Commercial Description:
Humble comfort in every sip
Wheat stout ale. Chocolate malt, wheat malt and carefully chosen specialty grains provide deep, black wort balanced with the Nugget and Fuggle hop varieties. Top fermenting ale yeast completes this beer resulting in full flavored, full bodied toasted/burnt chocolate wheat ale.

Shorts The Chocolate Wheat Growler Filled 07/07, tried 07/07. Moderate pour in a mug. Poured black with brown highlights and a huge frothy mostly lasting brown head. Smelt of strong dark chocolate, burnt grain. Taste was upfront strong burnt grain and moderate sweet and sour fruity esters followed by more of the same, but with more subdued sweetness, on a long finish. Palate was medium bodied, lively carbonated, oily on a slightly dry finish, and moderately astringent. Overall, this is a great beer. It is a very odd animal but I would definitely drink it again. Great to sip on. I only wish the chocolate was a little bit more present on the palate.

Not a stout but enjoyable. Roasted and salty. Would go well with some peanuts. Rather thin but makes it very drinkable.

Draft @ Shorts. Pours a very dark, chocolate-brown color; creamy, medium-tan head with solid retention and fine-bubbled lacing; great-looking pour. Good amounts of milk and softly bitter chocolate in the aroma; some roast and coffee; well-roasted with some burnt toast notes. Medium-to-full mouthfeel: strikes a very nice balance between its roasted characteristics and the soft, husky wheat tones underneath; lots of heavily roasted malts, milk and bitter chocolate, and creamy wheat notes throughout; creamy, dense, and generous beer that utilizes its wheat elements quite nicely; very tasty stuff. Medium finish: bitter chocolate, toasty malts, and some lightly husky wheatiness; on the dry side.

tap at shorts.....darker reddish brown pour with a frothy light brown head.... slighty bready aroma with just a hint of chocolate but was expecting a little bit more....chocolate became more apparent in the flavor with more of a roasted malt addition to it. semi-lively carbonation....pretty good.

On tap at Shorts in a sampler glass. Pours dark black with a beige head. Nose of chocolate and some banana. Chocolate, brown sugar, banana, wheat and a touch of spice in the flavors. Bittersweet finish. With the wheat, I was not thinking this was going to be classified as a stout. Tasty though.

draft at hopcats shorts dinner. pour is very deep brown with red hints, and a nice off brown head. flavor is quite chocolatey, with a little bit of coffee in the back. only let down is that it is a little bit thin for my stout tastes.
