The Curl was one of the first Imperial beers made at Shortís. This American Pilsner has an appealing clear, bright, and golden straw color. Faint esters of grain and aromas of fresh baked bread are prominent throughout the beer. The flavor results from the abundance of flake maize used in this recipe. There are also hefty doses of hops that create a pronounced dryness that seamlessly blends into a crisp, clean finish.

Wonderful thick head - long lasting with a flavor of grass and sharp hop bitterness when the head is sampled. Almost like tasting a farm yard and thatís a good thing. Unbelievable golden color with great carbonation that tingles on the tongue. This is a wonderful pilsner, and as it warms you get a more citrus and some pine. I got this beer from a friend in Michigan, I need more. Well this is a live and full of yeast, my second glass plopped out a ton of yeast and of course itís not very cloudy almost like a wheat beer. I now taste an almost clove like flavor - still damn good.

Very mild malt aroma. Pours a clear light yellow with a thin white head. Starts with a slightly sweet malt aroma, with a big punch of hops, lots of pine and grassy notes. Very nice bitter finish, and light bodied. This is a really easy drinking beer, with the alcohol really well hidden.

A decent enough imperial lager. Grassy notes with a crisp finish. Nothing more but nothing less than you might expect

Not much of a scent. A hint of sweetness and a hint of grass. Pours a light gold where you can see the carbonation bubbles rising. No real head, just something that reminds me of dish soap, Hop presence hits the tongue first, but then finishes like bread. It is good for a pilsner or lager (not my styles of choice), but not something I would seek out.

Citrus, lemon and orange zest, caramel and notes of sugar cane. Nice hop bitterness throughout. Crisp finish and carbonation.

Bottle from Drakes party center. Pours golden with a white head. Leaves a lot of lacing. Not a ton on the nose. Tastes of straw on the tongue. Thereís a hint of bitterness at finish to keep things tidy. Itís sneaky big at 7% and real easy drinking. Solid!

Bottle. Pours a straw color. Small white head. Slightly sweet aroma. Flavor is sweet grass. Medium thick body. Bitter finish. This was ok, but Iím not picking up the love that some of the other raters must have felt. Based on dates of the other raters Iím guessing my bottle is a little old, but Iíd think at 7% it would have held up for a couple months.

Grassy hay with a little bit of light toasty grain in the aroma. Bottle from a recent trade. Flavor is good subtle and not too sticky sweet. Kicks up the pilsner style a bit to make it a little more full bodied and entertaining. Little bit of alcohol and band aid hops working.

12 oz bottle. The pour is a pretty good looking bright gold, like you'd expect in a pilsner. It's not really clear, and the head is pretty thin, but leaves great lace. The aroma is very citrusy with notes of yeast and malt. There isn't as much grain as you'd expect, which is a nice change of pace. The flavor is very citrusy on the front and then smoothes out. There isn't much else on the back end, other than a little dry hoppy finish. The mouth feel is a little thin, but the color and flavor suggest it won't be too thick ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours golden somewhat clear with a smaller white head. Aroma brings some light zest like yeast and a bit of sweet malts. Flavor brings smooth and crisp malty pilsner and Pilsner yeast flavors that give a German small hop bit to settle on the palate.

12oz bottle, big thanks to umich03jm. Few things in life I love more than fresh, unrated Shorts at my doorstep... One of the classiest looking shorts labels Iíve ever seen, really nice-looking. Mostly clear yellow color. Very fine particles visible suspended in the body. Very nice ridges and spreads of lace. Good-looking beer, with the label to complement. Medium-plus body. Smooth, crisp, lighter carbonation, with a more dry finish. Great grassy hop aroma, bready, lightly peppery full pilsenery malt base, nice light lemon citrus. Great, big long pilsnery aftertaste. Pilsen malt really shines here; itís a showcase of everything good about pilseners. Good moderate to bigger bitter taste, light to moderate sweetness, all in balance. No hint of the bigger alcohol in the taste, just a nice, more full body and bigger flavor. This manages to be a slightly bigger, more fuller flavored pils without being over the top hoppy and not at all hot, very impressive. Still true to style but big enough to qualify as imperial. It pretty much amps everything up I love about a good pils, and yet still manages to be very drinkable and quite refreshing. Maybe Iím a shorts fanboy, maybe Iím just in a beer mood, but this has got to be one of the most perfect imperial pilseners Iíve ever tried... very well done in all aspects.
