COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A rich lustrous dark red London ale. Rich malt complexities lending notes of toasted caramel, raisins, toffee, and slight roast chocolate. Very light hop additions let the true malt characters promenade throughout the tasting enjoyment this beer offers.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours a pretty-looking red-amber with a rim of white. Nice rich malty nose, bits of caramel and sweet tea. A good bit of leafy hops blends in as well. Really fresh, complex nice malt flavor. There’s deep unique earthy caramels, sweet oats, chewy grains and a bit of bright alcohol flavor. Chewy and good body, but not too sweet. Very nice. A bit of honey-like sweetness meets a plant-like, flowery hop backing. Not bad.

Had this on tap a number of times now. Pours a nice deep and dark red color. Aroma is nice and fruity, you could almost swear there was some sort of berries. Taste is much the same, nice big malt profile, nothing overly sweet, just a very balanced and ultra drinkable beer. Berries in the taste as well. Definitely not overly hopped, but a great balance, and tasty malt. well done.

Sample @ WBE: Curious style, described as a "Dark Red London Ale". Sort of smells like Victoria’s Secret "Strawberries and Champagne" lotion, and some caramel. Tastes of raisin and dry cherry and finishes with a honey flavor, but only slightly bitter.

Nose is kind of weak but has notes of malt caramel and light hops. Medium red amber hue with a fully diminishing off white head. Flavor of caramel malt, roasted malt, and some bitterness on the finish. Medium bodied and watery soft. An ok brew but nothing special.

Easily my favorite I have tried so far from Shorts. On tap at the brewpub. The body was dark copper with a light khaki head. The aroma was caramel and apples with some black tea. The taste was rich vanilla with some light tobacco. There was also some caramel. This was like a very nicely made imperial ESB.

On tap at HopCat, Grand Rapids. Medium red-brown body, medium buff head. Aroma of berries, caramel, and sweet toasts. Earthy. Soft, biscuity, sweet body, tealike and leafy. Reminds me of bread pudding or raisin bread. Rather wispy and ephemeral, perhaps too sweet for the light heft.

Draft at the brewpub. Poured a slightly hazy amber color with a white head that left a bit of lace behind. Aroma was of toffee and subdued dark fruit. Slightly sweet with a dominant dark fruit flavor accented by toasted bread and toffee. Good beer.

When I think of English reds, I think of smooth and mellow. That’s exactly what this was. Flavor was subtle, color and head were nice. Good beer, nice smooth malt.

Strong red hues the way through a journey of sweet honey and caramel mountains. Sitting on my tongue for a while, making me wish that I reserved a room.
