3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
12 ounce bottle into pint glass, bottled on 9/26/2014. Pours moderately hazy deep red/copper color with a 1 finger dense khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of caramel, toast, toffee, biscuit, light nuttiness, raisin, plum, fig, apple, light chocolate, herbal, grass, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/bready malt, fruity yeast ester, and light earthy hop notes; with good strength. Taste of caramel, toast, toffee, biscuit, nuttiness, raisin, plum, fig, apple, light chocolate, herbal, grass, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Slight earthy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, toast, toffee, biscuit, light nuttiness, raisin, plum, fig, apple, light chocolate, herbal, grass, and yeast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice robustness and complexity of dark/bready malt, fruity yeast ester, and light earthy hop flavors; with a great malt/yeast balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a smooth, crisp, and fairly creamy/bready mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very nice Irish red ale. All around good robustness, balance, and complexity of dark/bready malt, fruity yeast ester, and light earthy hop flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle, pretty sure from MikeM409. Poured into a snifter. Minimal head, murky red in appearance. Nose is a lot of toffee, caramel and butter. Super sweet initially with minimal to non existant bitterness and no roast to dry it out. like a syrupy sweet beer. A little bit of cherry and fruity esters come across in the flavor as it warms. Tastes better as it warms with some more yeast expression coming through on every sip. Could use some more carbonation to break up the mouthfeel. other than that, tolerable, but not a beer I would drink more than one of.

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Rated on 8-09-2010. This bottled beer has a small fizzy beige head with a short retention, transparent reddish orange body, fizzy, fast rising carbonation, and a fair amount of lacing. This beer’s aroma is roasted malt, caramel and toasty. The taste is semi-sweet, caramel malt, lightly roasty, and toffee. The palate is soft carbonation and this beer is light-medium bodied. The aroma outweighs the flavors of this beer as the flavors just did not come together for me.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle: muddled, swampy brown in the center, completely opaque& outlined with some slightly translucent shades of copper; topped with a light khaki head that sifts to a collar in moments. Aroma has plentiful sticky caramel malt, a hint of sugary plums, & some faint metallic tones in the finish. A little heavier tart apple & plum on the palate, almost like a scotch ale, outlined with light residual sugar, caramel malt, a faint medicinal overtone, & almost a cardboard-y vibe in the aftertaste. Doesn’t taste oxidized, just a side effect of the heavy malt, methinks. Not bad, but it’s largely "middle of the pack" & fairly standard for a malt forward ale. Without much hop presence, the malt bill wears your palate down quite quickly.
