Fermented as ďbeerĒ from wort extracted from fully modified two-row pale malt which provides a beautiful straw color. This beer is aggressively hopped with Perle and Centennial hops. Its light body and low alcohol allow the hops to become more prominent throughout the beer. The floral aroma is attributed to heavy handfuls of centennial hops at the finish of the boil. Hearty handfuls of hops lend a grape fruity tone in the flavor and finish of the beer.

The Village Reserve pours a slightly cloudy golden yellow with an eggshell white head that lasts a good while. The aroma is citrus and grape. The flavor is citrus initially with a bit of grape and then an earthy citrus bitter finish. Overall this is a pretty nice beer.

Bottle. Pours a light yellow corn color. Small white frothy head. Big grainy aroma. Some lace. Quite a lot of bitter going on. Finish feels creamy to me. I didnít love this, but but I kind of liked it. Different, but unusual. Always like to try unusual Shorts stuff.

label says california common but rb has it here as a bitter? regardless, itís a fresh smelling hoppy and crisp brew - not a lot of ílagerí character but definitely more enjoyable than anchor steam, with a medium body and clean hops finish. nice.

Bottle to half-pint glass (shared with the Mrs.). Looks solid; a transparent golden orange with white lacing. Smells and tastes biscuity and hoppy with light citrus notes and an average mouthfeel. A nice easy drinker.

12 oz bottle. Pours golden with some little flecks and a white head. Pale malt, grassy hop, biscuit, maybe a bit of green grape in the aroma. Pale malty biscuit flavor, again grassy hops, a bit of a honey finish. I dunno, nothing too exciting, but the quality is there.

Bottle, thanks, Steve. Pours a somewhat cloudy gold, with a white head. Aroma is grain, malt, and hops. Flavor is malt, grain, hops, all relatively subtle. A simple, but decent beer.

12oz bottle, thanks to FlandersNed. Bottled 9/24/13. Labeled "California Style Common Beer". Clear golden orange color. Thin white head, leaves good lace. Very smooth, crisp carbonation, super easy drinking. Medium body. Good toasty malt, nice snappy hop, some lemongrass type flavor to the hops. Moderate bitter, light sweet taste, light malty tingle. Awesome beer, very tasty and easy drinking stuff. Was great to go with my sandwich, too.

Bottle date is all messed up, so I have no idea when this was bottled, but it wasnít sooner than September, Iím pretty sure. Poured into a Sam Adams Perfect Pint. Appearance: A hazy straw color... others would say it looks like piss. Two finger head falls to one, where it stays for awhile. Nice lacing. Pour semi-aggressively, so you can get it all into your glass perfectly. A really good looking beer. Smell: Hay. Pale malts. Slightly grassy hops. Thereís not much to it, but itís certainly of quality. Nothing cheap here. Taste/feel: Hay is the first flavor, followed by some of those pale malts, and then a surprising bit of hop bitterness. The very first thing I notice though is the mouthfeel -- this actually has a surprising body to it that I wasnít expecting. It drinks a bit heavier than 4.7%, and I like that. Aftertaste is slightly dry with a bit of a lingering bitterness. A slight prick of carbonation spruces things up on the end. I havenít had too many steam beers, and to be honest, I havenít really liked any of the ones Iíve tried. This beer seems a bit thicker than other ones Iíve had, but I enjoy it more than some of them.
