pours brown with a nice creamy head.slight scent of maple and nuts but quite surprising with the amount of head that im not getting more aroma.maple, brown sugar pecans and wood with a totally flat flinish.kinda strange that such a nice head on this beer and a complete loss of carbonation.the alchohol is well hidden but still kinda confused on flavours and aroma here.i know this is seasonal and the only shorts beer that i cared for.what in the heck happened?if there were more carbonation here this beer would just be so much better.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Pours murky brown, a small head. Aroma has a very strong hazelnut component, cocoa, spices, wood and a lot of syrup. Taste is s lot of the same, strong oxidation and a bit of sourness, but still a lot of nuts. Interesting.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
(bottle - 12 oz) Clear brownish pour with a thin and slightly tan head. Sweet and spicy aroma at the start. Can definitely pick up the hints of maple syrup and some vanilla. Sweet and slightly nutty flavor at the start with a very nice and subtle spice middle. Sweet on the finish with a tiny bit bitterness.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
12oz bottle. Pours a murky brown with a thin film of a head. Not much in the aroma really. Nutty, with some sweet malty overtones not really getting any maple syrup in the aroma. The syrup does come through in the body mid palate a little bit along with some dried fruity notes and some slight tartness. As it warms up, an almost medicinal quality arises. Not a bad beer at all, just a little disappointed..

3.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
12oz Bottle. Thanks Sean! Sounding fragrant brown aroma. This is very enticing. Rich caramelized notes and a lot of Maillard complexity. Flavors and textures somehow don’t hold up their end of the bargain. A thin, tangy, slightly astringent wash. I was really looking forward to and hoping for a nice, sugary, boozy sipper. Instead, a slightly lactic, too-dry, relatively bland water bag. Bummer.

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
GABF 2011. Murky nutty brown with a dense creamy beige head. Sweet fantastic aroma of roasted pecan, male syrup, light bourbon, vanilla, a touch of oak. Flavor of the same, with a touch of chocolate and less maple. Plenty of oak wood tones. Huge body with a touch of dark fruit flavors, bunt toffee sweetness, nutty maltiness. Superb!

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
On tap at GABF- man if anyone brought to goods it was Shorts. They had a huge array of maybe 20 beers! The aroma is sweet boozy syrup and some funkiness. The flavor is basically a rich funky Brown Ale with huge sweet syrup and wood, very warm and nice. Some toasted malts and almost a hint of spices.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
(12oz bottle thanks to bu11zeye) clearish and ruby in color, with a film and ring of tan bubbles on top. Nose of raisin, grape, vinous, a bit woody as well. Taste of grape jam, wood, nice and complex with a great linger. Despite the fact I don’t think they wanted this to be sour, I enjoyed it.
