aroma is some mild roast, alcohol and very faint peanut butter, appearance is black with a thin brown head, sweet flavor, chocolate, alcohol, dry charcoal black malt, roast, mild peanut on the finish, cream, interesting but some really hot alcohol flavors, fusel alcohol, I really appreciate the attempt to make a weird stout, totally home brew style recipe and that is a beautiful thing, points added for exhibitionism

Tap @ Shorts: Black, black, black, only a mild brown hue near the very top with a fine-bubbled, micro mocha foam that hangs around on top. Smells like lightly charred peanuts over an open flame; seriously dry roasted, peanut goodness filling your nostrils with a faint undercurrent of dense chocolate malt & a hint of creamy sweetness. Taste includes all of the aforementioned goodness... Dry roasted peanut character with a peanut butter-like sweetness aspect, dry cocoa dust, faint char, chocolate, & hints of cream. Leaves your palate coated with roasted peanut butter & toasted peanuts, like you just got done munching a spoonful of Skippyís Super Chunk. The upper echelon of peanut infused stouts, no question. Downright delicious.

On tap at the brewery for the Shorts Anniversary. One of my bigger wants going in the event and it did not disappoint. A really nice dark pour with a great looking dark colored head. The aroma is bursting with a peanut butter chocolate note that I canít get enough of. The best part and the thing that really brings it all together is that nutty peanut flavor. The feel and taste is like a handful of peanuts in your mouth and itís great. Roasty and chocolatey. I love the low abv stouts that still have the thick good creamy feel. Very drinkable. Even with 99 on tap I went back for more on this one. Great stuff.

A: pours a dark brown on black with a thin sheet of mocha foam which falls quickly to a scattered sheet of the same. No lace. Clarity irrelevant.
S: Sitting with my face a good 18" from the glass, I can smell the roasted oatmeal malts. I can smell the peanuts. As I approach the glass I get even more peanuts, some cardboard, some burnt toast. These all meld well enough, and the beer creates the novelty it adverts. I also like it (but in limited encounters)
T: Hmm, initially sweet, then a pinch of tartness and then I start to be able to try and appreciate the flavors. The beer has a slight soy sauce flavor on it (which I really appreciate in SA Triple Bock í97), but Iím not encouraged by the circumstances here. Some bitter soil tones here as well.
M: Medium on thin bodied with moderate carb. Semi-dry finish.
O: Iím a bit torn on this beer. On one hand the nose is quite strong and meets the advertised tones of the beer. On the other hand, the flavor profile indicates something is not quite right. Hard to tell if this is a yeast issue, sanitation issue, oil issue or simply my palate on the intended beer. After Iíve had half the glass, the tartness has become less evident allowing the peanuts and malts to resurface again. Would I drink again? Yes. Would I prefer on tap? Yes - as Iíve had less issues with novelty beers deviating from their former selves associated with bottle conditions and dating issues. Worth a peak as a beer.

12oz bottle -- big thanks to the michiganer that tipped me this! A lot of people are doing peanut butter porters these days, but I donít think Iíve seen anything that involved just peanut puree... You can get peanut in the flavor, not too strong, but there. Unfortunately, this is very sour. Bottle is infected for sure. Taste is almost nothing but sourness -- maybe a light bit of bitterness. There might be some peanut in the nose, but what is predominant is the tart funky sourness. Peanut aroma is very nice in the aftertaste, though (once the big abrupt sour taste finishes), as well as good creamy oats. Luckily those flavors outlast the sour. Dark brown, near black color. No head or lace. Medium body, very thin. Just a light (pretty nice) chewiness in the finish. Lighter, kind of rougher, abrupt carbonation. Sipping this is kind of miserable, really, the aftertaste is all that keeps me going. You have to get through the thin body, rough texture, and sour taste to get to that awesome oaty peanuty aftertaste. Itís still a sour, kind of gross beer, though. Would love to re-rate a fresh example if I ever get the opportunity.

Bottle. Pours an inky black with a huge brown head. Big aroma, of oatmeal, malt, nuts, caramel, and a hint of some juicy fruit. Taste is an odd blend of sharp sparkly malt, nuts, and tart citrus, with sweeter creamy caramel and peanut butter. Lingering tart nutty bite. This is a weird beer.
