Uncle Steve’s Irish Stout is Short’s version of the classic Irish Stout, complete with a dark color, soft head, and smooth full flavor typical of this lighter bodied beer. A simple grist formula provides a base of roasted malt flavors, while the infusion of nitrogen adds the creamy drinkability everyone loves.

A big coffee smell. A dark brown color with a dark nice looking head. Not a ton of flavor. But still not bad.

Pours a jet black with a thin tan head. Aroma is chocolate, roast, char, and cracker. Flavor is lots of roast and chocolate, with some cracker/bread. Has a thin body. Good.

Part of a sampler at Bellaire- very great nose, chocolate notes and a dark color. Creamy and full without being chunky. Not too hoppy and very good.

Bottle: Nearly black, outlined with deep brown & ruby edges. Fine bubbled, tan colored layer of foam sifts across the top. Nose has hints of roasted coffee beans, roasted malts, a hint of char, & some bittersweet dark chocolate. Flavor kicks up the roast another notch. Heavy roasted malts, burnt coffee bean (think French or Italian roast), mild char, & even a light hint of smoke. Very dry, as an Irish stout should be. Dry cacao powder lingering in the finish. Low carbonation, thin-medium bodied with a bit of creaminess to it.

Tasted from a 12oz. bottle. It poured an opaque black with a brown head that didn’t last and left no lacing. Aroma of chocolaty malt and coffee. A roasted malt taste that is not as heavy as you would think based on its appearance.

Bottle. Pours a dark brown with a small tan head that diminishes quickly. The aroma is raisin, roast, and coffee. Thin mouthfeel with light roastiness and smoke finish. Good dry stout.

On tap at brewery. Aroma is classic Irish stout. Good roasted malts with some peat and smoke. Black hue with a small head that left little lace. Medium sweet and bitter. Medium bodied.
