COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Pub-only.
Wit Happens is a Belgian White beer brewed with coriander, grains of paradise, and orange peel. Delicate aromas of sweet citrus and bready malt rise from this hazy pale yellow ale. Although perceivably low on the nose, the spicy contributions from the Belgian yeast come through instantly upon first taste, offering pleasant clove complements to the additional peppery flavors. Followed by a soft banana-like sweetness and a mildly pleasant tang, the finish is relatively clean marked by a slight spiciness and a touch of bitterness.

Bottled 355ml. -from Svijet Piva Zagreb. Marko’s bottle shared with Yves, Fran and me. Cloudy yellow coloured, minimal white head, mild orange in the nose. Sweet malty, fruity, light spicy and citrusy with notes of coriander in the finish. Pretty thin overall, expected better from the brewery.

Well, guess this is my contribution to today’s tasting with Ogi, Fran & Yves, so yay! Poured a misty-murky yellow body with no head really. Sticky sweet banana in an otherwise not too sticky aroma (wha?), vaguely spicey, sharp slightly herbal/sweaty. Caramel/malt in the background, vague banana. Most from the aroma continues to the taste, adding vague orange/coriander, thin, slightly soapy, slightly soapy, bitter aftertaste that grows, but clashes with the rest. Messy and not to lively, yeah. Pulls some things off, but as a whole, it’s just not interesting.

PUGE!

In short: liveless witbier.
Pours hazy bright gold with frothy white head. Moderate head retention, some lacing. Clove, banana, spicy aromas. Light body, high carbonation, crispy texture. Taste is the one of an average witbier, spicy, a bit liveless and even harsh, with a quite spicy finish.

Bottle. A hazy, yellow-golden beer topped by a small, dense, off-white head. The aroma is rather yeasty, with orangey fruityness and a peachy touch. Pale malts. The flavor is fruity and peachy, with pale malts, peppery hints and a faint bitterness. Medium body and a soft carbonation level. Some yeasty notes in the finish too. Not much interesting going on here. Not too pleasant either. 141219
