A very enjoyable straightforward honest bitter. Medium bodied. Medium carbonation. High on hops and a bitter ending that quickly gives way to citrus sweetness which lasts in the mouth.

Cask. Solid ruby brown colour, with lasting white head. Fruity nose, with nice hop/malt mix. Pronounced hop hit to go along with the typical smooth finish of a bitter. Plenty of earthy character as well. Great stuff.

Rich head, dark red/brown color. Smooth, good body, moderate metallic bitterness, buttery caramel, earthy, a little wood chip. Aroma: a little metal, a little body odor. A spanking beer. (cask at the Rose and Crown, Oxford, June 2012)

Bottled. A hazy brown coloured beer (with the yeast poured in) with an off-white coloured head. A yeasty aroma with a candy sugar note to it. Quite bitter at first but then transgresses to a semi-sweet yeasty beer. Pretty decent.

Cask at Ascot Festival 2011. Pours a clear copper colour with a thin off-white head. The aroma is malty with hints of caramel, the taste is all grapefruit with a long dry bitter finish.

Wow: nose-smacking hop aroma humming with overripe satsuma, lychee, exotic pollen. A real sniffer. Pours mellow, coppery bronze with a fat, unmoving cream foam and slight veil of haze. Full-bodied and complex with pithy, tropical-hinting hops (pineapple, lychee, orange, grapefruit), robust husky malts and a good dry, lingering bitterness. Green, earthy, flowery burps like a mouthful of Geraniums. Really pleasant, tangily hopped, slightly humming bottle conditioned English. When I was expecting something drab and brown.

[500ml bottle (from Millets Farm Shop, nr Abingdon) that Dad shared with me - cheers!] Murky auburn with a small off-white head. Odd kiwi and urine flavour (kiwiwee?!) mixed in with nice fresh hops and lots of malt. On the sweet side, could do with a bit more crispness. Not up to the Prospect from the same brewery.

Amber body, white head. Lots of hop aroma, nice malty backbone. Slightly roasted malt, sweetness, round hoppy taste. Nicely balanced. Nutty. Smooth and crisp bitterness. Good bitter.
