3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
In short: A golden lager hopped like an citrusy Pale Ale.
How: Tap at brewpub (oct 2008). First batch ever.
The look: Partly cloudy dark golden body topped by a very small white head
In long: Citrusy nose very atypical for an Oktoberfest. Taste and body has that chewy true unfiltered lager sensation with a lot of juicy citrusy hops that felt very much like a Pale Ale. A bit bready, not much caramel/honey/other sweetness flavours. Smooth body, smooth carbonation. Closer in style to the Maibocks then the Oktoberfests I’ve had. The end-result is a nice refreshing citrusy lager but as an Oktoberfest it is as spot on one GW Bush assessment of the situation in… well, anything.
