Saison de Rouge is a dry-hopped Red Saison that was fermented in red wine barrels with 100% Brettanomyces. This Saison will be very different than previous releases as it focuses more on hops, spice, malt and a little funk without the acidity.

Although it finished really dry for this malt bill, it still has a bunch of orchard fruit, starburst candy, orange and grape juice and lime peel on the palate from the dry hops (Mosaic, Citra, Simcoe).

bottle shared at our big bottle share tasting. slight gusher. poured a hazy deep ambder to more dark red colour with a lasting white head on top. nose has grains, old dusty malts, red grapes, bitter grape skin, oak, and a clear red wine barrel notice. taste has a ton of funk upfront, old dusty horseblanket, red grapes, and red bordeaux, spicy brett, lemons, nice bitter aftertaste. maybe just a little bit to carbonated. but overall a plesant surprise.

750 mL bottle. Originally reviewed 12/1/2014. Deep reddish brown. Big khaki head. Thick collar. Brett aroma is strong. Musty red wine and some malts. Intensely oaky. Brett is again the strongest flavor. The red wine is as distinct as any red wine flavor I’ve had in a beer. Strong oak. Dry caramel and toasty malt. Very oaky finish. Starts off crisp and the wine gets a little heavier. Well carbonated. A little uninspired.

Bottle to glass. Pours a hazy reddish brown color. Aroma is yeasty, funk, some light fruits. Flavor is bretty, barnyard funk, malts, touch of fruit. Not as good as the other SP stuff.

750ml. Cloudy reddish brown. This one is heavy on the Brett. Yeast and spices. Leather, oak. Touch of red wine. Dry finish. Without the souring microfloria it’s quite a departure from the usual SP lineup.

The Brett funk doesn’t work as well as hoped. Very dry from the wine barrels. Nice bit of spice.

Thanks to Armin for sharing this beer. Red with lots of foam. Leather, olive oil, yeast, and flowers. This is complex. Some east, the brett keeps it dry, and it finishes dry as well. I love the complexity and unusual aromas

Bottle shared by Armin...thanks. Hazy amber pour with minimal head. Aroma is red wine and some funk. Taste follows with nice finish. Good stuff.

Bottle shared by Armin, thanks! Pours a murky amber brown with a light yellowish brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma is red wine forward with grass, light funk and a hint of citrus. Flavor has light tart fruits and red wine with backing notes of light grain and funk.

Pour out of 750 mL bottle, hazy reddish brown pour with off white head, aroma brought notes of wine, funk, earth, some slight lemon, oak, touch of caramel, toast. Taste was a mix of leather, funk, lemon, floral, hints of earth, slight dirty feet, finishing with leather, tart.
