The Origin is a blend of Imperial Stout, Black Oatwine and Baltic Porter that was aged for 20 months in a Rittenhouse Rye barrel with Madagascar Vanilla Beans. It is our Batch #1, Barrel #1 and our first release. It is never to be brewed again.

High boost bottle @ joet’s Party Palace. Black pour, just about flat, with no real head to speak of. Aroma is whiskey, vanilla, and blackberry jam. Lots of oak, chocolate, Hershey’s Syrup, and roast. Some caramel and certainly a bit of booze. Flavor is quite intense. Very sweet. Lots of chocolate, vanilla, and whiskey. Blackberry jam, some roast, oak, caramel, and brown sugar.

wow, this is brownie batter, not as thick as some of the other "whale" imperial stouts, but a complex chocolate cake none the less. Awesome stuff.

Bottle thanks to Dustin. Pours a very dark brown with small beige head. Th aroma is dark chocolate, coconut, wood, molasses. Medium mouth, chewy, chocolate, coconut, marshmellow, slight infection but still very good.

Bottle at Side Project tasting night; bottle number 28 of 156, dark brown pour with a thin tan head, aroma has dark fruit and rich dark malt, taste has dark winter fruits, a hint vanilla, some hint of bourbon, some chocolate, roast malt.

Bottle... RBSG 2014... Pitch-black pour with no head. Coconut and toasted oak stand out in the bouquet. Mega full-bodied with faint carbonation. The flavor is lightly tart and tangy with touches of dried plum, blackstrap molasses, liquor and dark berries. The aftertaste is a collage of tobacco, liquid fudge and dried plum.

Black pour with some ruby at the edges. No head. Complex aroma. Dried fruits, dark brown sugar, coffee. The flavor is sweet and complex with coffee and chocolate .

Sample at SRBG 2014. Pours dark brown with just the hint of a beige head. Aroma of fruit, malt, vanilla, and wood. Taste is malt, fruit, berries, vanilla, chocolate, and wood. A lot going on here. Very good. Very interesting.

Bottel share at RBSG, thanks to Ben for making sure I got to try this! Dark muddy black brown pour, with little to no head to speak of. Aroma, sweet jesus, there is a lot going on here, oak, vanilla, slight roasted malts, dark fruits and brown sugar. Taste is slight sour up front, followed by some oak, a bit of vanilla, some roast, and a sweet slight sour finish. This is really complex stuff, and a very interesting brew, the light sourness combined with everything else thats going in this bad boy makes for a very unique beer, unlike anything I have ever tried

Sampled at the RBSG14 Grand Tasting - Pours dark brown with a burnt orange head. The aroma has caramel, marshmallows, roastiness, vanilla, oak and coconut. It has a medium rich body with low amount of carbonation. The aroma does not prepare you for what the taste is like at all. It starts off with sourness, berries, apples, roast and some odd "off" flavors that seem to work well for it. The finish has chocolate, licorice and still hanging onto the sourness. I like this one, but definitely not a tradition imperial stout.

Bottle @ RBWG, Asheville. Brown pour with a small head. The nose is fully of rich dark chocolate. Unfortunate accents of soy sauce. Smoked wood. Campfire s’mores. Taste is marshmallow and chocolate. Tangy red fruits. Berry patch. Toasty chocolate malt. Pretty oily and syrupy. Good stuff.
