My Unblended labeling will be single barrel releases of barrels that I find are just too good to blend and offer a unique experience on their own. Barrel #40 is the first barrel in my inventory that I have found to be this way. It started life as a Chardonnay barrel that I filled with a batch of coolship beer (100% spontaneously fermented) that I brewed in the early part of 2013. This was Barrel #40 in my inventory and is now its own, single barrel release.

Bottle thanks to Drake. Hazy gold with a small head. Nose is pretty lovely. Grape and general fruit skin. Musty. Lemon peel. Very sharp, acetic flavor. A bit of lemon and sour cream. Buggy wood. Medium body, soft carb.

Sampled during RBSG. From notes. Tart with oak and wine notes. Loads of barnyard funk.

375 ml bottle. Damn. This is amazing. Sour smarties and sweet tarts. hints of lemon and peach. Super sour and tart, no acidity, clean finish. Like a better version of beat. Best nonfruited sour I’ve ever had.

Bottle thanks to Phil. Pours a hazy yellow gold with small white head that diminishes to nothing. The aroma is strong chardonnay, oak, grape. Thin mouthfeel with nice tartness, oak, lingering sourness, funky, complex, very impressive.

INCREDIBLE beer. Seriously outrageous. Pours a nice gold/yellow color with a white head. The flavor is unreal. Perfectly tart, sour, chardonnay, peaches, plums...beyond good. Just GREAT.

Bottle. Poured a hazy yellow color with a small sized head. Citrus, some fruitiness, funk, barnyard, brett, and some woodiness. Nice - nothing over powering but everything working and blending beautifully.

Straw yellow pour. Nose is light lemon, funk. Taste is the same with all components meshed together so well. Light tart finish. So bright and smooth.

Bottle: Thanks to Nolan & Tim. Cloudy, masked & vapid yellow body with a skimpy white foam that doesn’t stick around for too long. Sweaty lemon aroma, good amounts of citric acidity, peach, generic stone fruit, moderately funky oak, mildly vinous white grape, & a touch of lactic apricot. A similar melange of delicious, citric drupes overrun the palate with each sip. Apricot, lemon, peach, Riesling grapes, citron, gooseberry. Nice punch of lacto sourness throughout, plenty of vinous & lightly spicy oak from front to back with a dry, crisp finish. What a great beer.

Bottle thanks to Brandon. Pour is very pale yellow with a small white head. Aroma is lemony and earthy with hints of hay and spice. Flavor is very strange. Tastes like the letter "J". Very light tart kick up front followed by a void which drops deeply until finally caught by buttery barrel notes. Then a slight upswing with more lemony notes. Interesting beer.
