Pours slightly hazed yellow into a tumbler. Dusty apple and barnyard aromas. Soft with funky yeast and dry apple upfront turning to spicy leather in the medium length finish.

UPDATED: SEP 10, 2014 In short: A bland semi-funky Sidra dominated by apples flavor. Meh.
How: Bottle at Atari Gastroteka, San Sebastian Spain.
The look: Almost clear blonde body with no head to speak of.
To me a typical Sidra is: Funky aroma of medium intensity with many light color fruits in the back (not just apples). Body is medium in size, a texture that is both juicy and doughy and with minimal carbonation. Taste is a lot less apple-forward than a regular cider with apples but also various light color tropical/citrus/exotic fruits. Yeast presence accompanied by a bready sensation. Typical Sidras have a mild sourness and ends with a mild-medium acidic bite. Thirst quenching and also a bit nourishing.
This one: As above with more focus on freshly squeezed red apples. Low carbonation even by Sidra standards. A little less funky and with less of a yeast presence. A bit sweeter too. Overall this was a poor example of the style. My first Sidra, I was as disappointed as Iggy Pop when he received a shirt as a birthday present.

Bottle provided by Travlr. Thank you kind sir for this palate cleanser after drinking that Prairie Bomb! As you said, it "Worked like a charm." Poured a totally hazy straw yellow color with a small white head. Aroma was notes of dried apples, some funk notes. Tart, sweet fruits. Nice dry finish. Tart, enjoyable!

Bottle consumed as a palate cleanser after Prairie Bomb! Worked like a charm. Hazy pale yellow color, few bubbles. Aroma is funky, dusty dried apple skins, lightly peppery pears. Taste is slightly sweet, lightly tart fruit, semi dry finish. Delicious.

Bottle from ? That’s aged for probably a year - pours clear gold with no head, tiny tiny bubbles. Aroma has a nice funkiness that I’m enjoying. Taste is bites of tart and spicy sourness, with a watery hollowness that is probably a side effect of the aging. Finishes on the dry side. Quite nice!

Happy to try this, had always wanted a Basque cider. Pours a medium gold with a light haze - looks like bottle conditioned, either that or just a bunch of solids fell out of suspension. Aroma of apple stems and very light funk. Flavor is initially funk, barnyard, hay, and then it moves into an apple stem and apple peel finish. Medium bodied, fairly dry. There is a certain full bodied nature to this that means it isn’t exactly refreshing. Complex. I think this would pair spectacularly with cheese. Might just go into the fridge and see if I can find a chunk of something to nibble on with this.
