COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
2014 Beer Camp Across America Release.

As ever, San Diego’s Ballast Point looked to the sea for the inspiration behind Electric Ray. A play on the fish’s scientific name—Torpedo californica—this beer pays homage to our mutual home state, as well as to our Hop Torpedo, the source of much of the big flavor in this high voltage, hop-forward Imperial Pale Lager.

Ballast Point brought their homebrewing dreams to the big leagues and started brewing professionally, but they never forgot their roots. They still run a successful homebrewing supply shop in San Diego. A love for hops and the ocean inspire incredible brewed and distilled offerings, and their one-of-a-kind labels boast some beautiful, and sometimes gnarly-lookin’, fish.

Beer Camp at Total Wine in Boca. Pours a deep golden orange with small head with slight haze. Serious hop aroma with pine, resin, citrus, and malty backbone. The taste is a hop bomb with pine, spruce, mango, and lime. Caramel malt finish. Hop bitterness is almost over the top.

Pours cloudy and yellow a thin white head. Aroma of grass, straw, earth, and grains. Taste follows the nose and also showcases some spice and sour fruit. Medium body, nicely bitter, and well hidden alcohol.

Bottle at home- clear light golden, bright white head. Nose is subtle, pumpkin pie, graham cracker and earthy hops and grass. Taste is a bit off somehow. Biscuit and pine resin, some funky spices like tyme and burning sensation on the finish. Just not meshing for me ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

[Bottle (12oz)] Pours a deep copper-gold with an average size long-lasting frothy off-white head. Some lacing. Aroma of fruit, floral hops, pine notes, grain and bready malt. Flavour’s floral, fruity and a bit grassy along with a touch of alcohol and a nice grassy finish. Medium bodied. Pretty good beer.

Draft at Moriartys. Mostly clear caramel gold pour with some sift white foam. Very big hop resins with a bit of blonde malt underneath. A buttered biscuit dipped in turpentine. Yellow plums. Green grass. Meyer lemons. Honeycomb. Thyme. Numbing finish.

No strong aromas here, mild laid back ipa perfume. Looks like a darker lager, a little range brown on a pale background. Oh my, the first taste is a kick in the back if the throat followed by an alarming sensation on the tip of my tongue. Alky ball buster, and it taste like it. I’d say this is closer to the 10 percenter range here, dude. Is this what an old double ipa taste like after its aged? Wew. big giant mouth coating medicinal experience.

This golden beer has a grapefruit aroma and hoppy flavor which isnt so bitter it is overpowering. Light and crisp and finishes with a mild and pleasant aftertaste.
