COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
2014 Beer Camp Across America Release.

Torpedo Pilsner is a hop-forward take on the crisp classic lager. We and the folks at Firestone Walker share a passion for New Zealand hop varietals, so we loaded our legendary Hop Torpedo with southern hemisphere hops for a fruity, floral twist on the pilsner style.

Just down the road from us in California’s Central Coast wine country, this rock star brewery has earned “Mid-size Brewery of the Year” at the World Beer Cup four times. Like us, Firestone is passionate about hops. Their skill with the ingredient shines in their Pale Series and elsewhere in a long beer lineup driven by a premier brewing team.

Pours clear and gold with a bubbly white head. Aroma of bread, normal pilsner malts, corn, and hay. Taste follows the nose with light notes of citrus added in. Light body and a good drinking beer for summer.

From a bottle. Pours almost clear light gold with a bubbly off white head. Tastes like doughy, biscuit malty, musky, creamy, light wheat, corn, and lemon. Light body and low carbonation. Smells like creamy, doughy malt, grass, lemon, and a little sugary sweetness.

Bottle. Pours mostly clear golden yellow with creamy white head. Aroma is straw and cereal malts, light toast, lemon zest, and faint spicy hops. Flavor is dry, flavorful malt profile, medium grassy hop bitterness, and some light citrus esters; crisp dry finish. Light/medium body and medium carbonation.

Bottle to pilsner glass. Pours a light, clear yellow with an abundant white foamy head. Nose has some background skunky notes that remind me of pilsners. Flavors are good hop notes, with that pilsner backbone malt and super clean finish.

Damn was this a good pilsener! Aroma was Ok. Grains with light malt and fresh cut grass. Pour was a nice light cloudy gold with a thin white film for a head. Taste was nice and hoppy. Perfect balance of light malt and bitter hops. The fresh cut grass is big in the flavor as well as hay and light pilsener malt. Very hoppy and the bitter dryness finishes the sip. One of the best pilseners I’ve had.

Old notes from the camp pack. SLightly hazed yellow, ample white head and solid splashy lace. Smell is grains, some skunky hops, bready malts. Taste is where its at. Crisp, clean, big hop presence for a pils. Super yummy.

Fresh sharp hop aromas and some dry citrus. White head and very pale golden body. Fresh hoppy citrus flavor with some floral notes. Refreshing on the palate.

I don't know. I'm not really a fan of this bitter . Looks it's a clear ginger ale. Taste it's a bitter forward beer. I don't believe the essence of the torpedo was captured here. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Packaging date of 6/19/2014. Yup, I sure will say something on this despite the date only because beer camp only came last week. This was poured into a pilsener. The appearance was a nice golden yellow color with a nice transparency about it. Carbonation was seen rising at a semi-slow pace. Three finger white foamy head only lasted about less than a minute. Lacing was speckled and all over the place in a messy fashion. The smell had a nice fresh sticky fresh grassy to sweet citrus and even a light pine. Light crisp German malts play nicely underneath my nose. The taste was sweet and crisp, light citrus and pine combine to a sticky balancing act of sorts on my tongue. On the palate, this one sat about a light on the palate with a great sessionability about it. The carbonation seemed a bit smoother than a lot of pilseners I’ve had, no worries, still good. Overall, if I had another one of these, I’d want it with a nice pepperoni pizza. I would definitely have this again.

[Bottle (12oz)] Pours a lightly hazy yellow-gold with a large mostly-lasting fluffy white head. Minimal lacing on the glass. Aroma of Pilsner hops first followed by a bit of sugary sweetness and bready malt. Flavour’s even better, nice and hoppy, grassy and floral, with bready malt in the back and some fruit. Long moderate bitter finish. Medium bodied. Really good and well done, I drank this fast.
