COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
2014 Beer Camp Across America Release.

Torpedo Pilsner is a hop-forward take on the crisp classic lager. We and the folks at Firestone Walker share a passion for New Zealand hop varietals, so we loaded our legendary Hop Torpedo with southern hemisphere hops for a fruity, floral twist on the pilsner style.

Just down the road from us in California’s Central Coast wine country, this rock star brewery has earned “Mid-size Brewery of the Year” at the World Beer Cup four times. Like us, Firestone is passionate about hops. Their skill with the ingredient shines in their Pale Series and elsewhere in a long beer lineup driven by a premier brewing team.

This beer is "extra" last in the beers I’m tasting today... because why would it be any different from torpedo? Its yellow. It sweats heavily when yiu wait to long to drink it. It smells like german grass and tastes like fresh cut czech grass. Now, you don’t ask dunb questions. Desoite all the flam-glamb... thiz is a good beer...the one any sort of german-czech halfbreed should have the pleasure of enjoying.

Clear light yellowish color. 1 finger head. Is it growing? Hundreds of active bubbles. Very clean smelling. Creamy mouthfeel. Nice crispness. Very enjoyable! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle PKGD 05/29/14, uh, thanks, guys. Nose very hoppy, golden citrus with tropical rind, light grape, juicy and very fruity. Pours clear straw blonde with sharp carb and a soapy bright white head. Taste medium-strong bitterness, pils malt shining like the sun, lightly grassy and heavily citric hops, very juicy, supreme extraction. Touch chalky/minerally, has some measure of malt sweetness to manage a slight balance. Fullish body is heavy but crisp and refreshing. I don’t know what New World hop varietal they used, but this would fit in among the best of the nobles. All told, this is a Gänstaller-level hoppy pils with clean, bold flavor, and that’s very high praise.

Pours a soft and clean straw blonde with a storm of conversation and one or so fingers of head that is tight and creamy. The aroma is very grassy with some spicy hop notes with lightly bready and rustic notes. The flavor is grassy as well with a lightly resinous hop character and sharp spicy hop bitterness. Light bodied and dry with a grassy finish.

12oz bottle from Spirits Brick. Poured a medium density bright gold, average foamy bright white head. Aroma of green grapes, honey topped bread, juicy fruit, light touch of limon. Full big body, stronger carbonation, rather dry finish. Flavor is nice and crisp, dry crusts, green grapes, tropical fruit rinds, hint of citrus, grass. Nice beer.

12 oz bottle. Pours a bright clear golden with a white head. Herbal floral hop aromas, earthy spiciness, lavender. Floral, grassy, and herbal hoppiness, some spicy hops and some pilsener malt. It’s pretty nice, though I think the hop profile could be a little better.

Light, effervescent, more pilsner than hop-headed. The complexity seems a little clumsy, truth be told, and this feels more hackneyed than the rest of the beer camp offerings.

Bottle. Clear sparkly yellow pour with a smaller white head. Grassy hops, pils character, bright and refreshing. This is really solid.

Bottle from Beer Camp Across America pack into pils glass; faint haze otherwise clear golden color, bubbly with white head. Aroma of floral hops and light malt. Taste adds notes of cereal and piney/fruity hop bitterness. Light body, moderate-heavy carbonation, crisp with light citrus hop finish. Very good hoppy pils, showcases the pils style and the hops balanced perfectly. Well done.

Pours a light clouded yellow with one finger of off white head. Aroma is hoppy with floral and a bit of tropical notes. Flavor is low to moderately sweet with a crisp hoppy finish. Really enjoyed this one!
