2014 Beer Camp Across America Release.

Torpedo Pilsner is a hop-forward take on the crisp classic lager. We and the folks at Firestone Walker share a passion for New Zealand hop varietals, so we loaded our legendary Hop Torpedo with southern hemisphere hops for a fruity, floral twist on the pilsner style.

Just down the road from us in California’s Central Coast wine country, this rock star brewery has earned “Mid-size Brewery of the Year” at the World Beer Cup four times. Like us, Firestone is passionate about hops. Their skill with the ingredient shines in their Pale Series and elsewhere in a long beer lineup driven by a premier brewing team.

Beer Camp while camping continues, bottle pour. Very clean, hoppy lager from the famous Sierra Nevada hop torpedo. This, in some form, should be year round offering.

Looks fairly good. Good and hoppy for a pilsner. Really liking the beer camp offerings.

Pretty bitter and good drinking for a pilsener. Awesome session beer. Pours hazy white gold with good head and lacing. Light to medium bitter finish. Some citrus. Bottle.

Poured a clear golden yellow color with aromas of grassy hops, malt and some light corn. Flavors were grassy hops, and clean malt, light and refreshing, I could drink a lot of these in one sitting.

One of the best pilsners I’ve ever had, but I’m a sucker for NZ hops. Pale gold pour. Generous carbonation and nice white head. Definite green grass, citrus and floral on the nose and palate. Super crisp and clean. Nicely bitter int he finish. Quite delightful. Especially impressive that it is this good after this many months in storage.

[Tap] Bright golden color with a large amount of white foam on top. Sweet grassy and floral hops in the aroma. Crackers, flowers, light perfume, grains and hay in the flavor. Lively carbonation. Dry and moderately bitter finish. Tasting notes from 7/2014.

Poured from bottle into glass. Pours a pale gold with 2 finger white head. Aroma - some mild tropical fruit hops, touch of citrus, little biscuit. Taste - lots of tropical fruit and citrus on palate, some biscuit. Really nice.

Yellow pour with a white head. Aroma is malty, floral hops. Taste is a malty base with a crisp finish. Floral hops. Little fruity, more floral. So-so lacing.

12 ounce bottle from the Beer Camp Across America variety 12-pack. A little late opening this, I suppose. Pours a slightly hazed light yellow hue with one finger of white foam. AROMA of wet grains, tart lemon, with some floral an grassy hops. FLAVOR has mouthfuls of fruit (some tropical, lemon rind, other citrus), honeysuckle, a wet graininess, and mild honey malts. Actually finishes with some notable bitterness. Dry and clean finish with a thin mouthfeel. Not really much a fan of the style, but Sierra and Firestone have done a good job with this one.
