COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
2014 Beer Camp Across America Release.

Torpedo Pilsner is a hop-forward take on the crisp classic lager. We and the folks at Firestone Walker share a passion for New Zealand hop varietals, so we loaded our legendary Hop Torpedo with southern hemisphere hops for a fruity, floral twist on the pilsner style.

Just down the road from us in California’s Central Coast wine country, this rock star brewery has earned “Mid-size Brewery of the Year” at the World Beer Cup four times. Like us, Firestone is passionate about hops. Their skill with the ingredient shines in their Pale Series and elsewhere in a long beer lineup driven by a premier brewing team.

Bottle from mdg164, thanks Marc! Pours a pale golden with a white head. Aroma has fruit and berries, with some light straw. Taste is light, fruity, lemons, berries, a touch of pine with some light biscuity malts. Refreshing and crisp, light bodied and smooth. Finishes lighty fruity sweet. An excellent, flavorful, take on a blah style. 13.8

Bottle at home, courtesy of sonnycheeba. Pours clear gold with a medium, frothy white head, medium retention with good lacing. Aroma is fresh, fragrant spicy and earthy hops, crisp cracker and Pils malt. Flavor is moderate hops and bright hop bitterness, supporting crisp Pils malt, clean, balanced flavor and a dry finish. Light body and moderate carbonation.

Light but intriguing aroma, average appearance, so smooth it’s almost not there, I could drink a lot of this and fast, flavor packing too

12oz bottle. Hazy opaque yellow-tan. Not much of a head, some foamy white residue. Pretty awesome, sublime beer. The hops don’t really jump out at me in the aroma, I get some buttery straw...in a good way, classic boho pils way. The flavor has a nice NZ hop depth, while remaining pretty true to style. I would drink this beer all day every day. Expertly brewed, the addition of the NZ hops, which impart a peach tangerine mellowness, is awesome. Creative and well executed.

Very clear pale yellow with fluffy head. Aroma has familiar grainy malts with more pronounced herbal/citrus hop smell than typical pilsner. Light bodied with a very clean taste. Moderate citrus taste with the sweetness. Very easy drinking and would make a perfect beer for a hot summer day.

12 oz bottle from Beer Camp pack. Pours a clear white wine yellow with lasting head that remains as a wisp. Aroma is fruity with hop hop bitterness. Flavor is white wine complexity with active carbonation upfront, leading to aggressive pleasant floral hops. Thin to medium bodied, creamy carbonation, and clean moderately bitter finish.

Beer Camp 12oz bottle. Pours a clear, pale yellow with a fluffy, two finger, white head. Aroma has classic pilsner notes, a hint of citrus, and a bit of grain sweetness. Taste is balanced with a bit more hops than the aroma. Pilsner malt with a bit of pine, resin, citrus, and a short aftertaste. Medium-full body with a medium carbonation. Clean in the mouth with a lively carbonation, and a dry finish. Overall a pretty tasty pils. Don’t get a lot of hops but I’d have it again. A bit more than your standard pils.

Super cloudy golden coloured body with a very pale glow and a thinnish, single centimetre tall pure white head. Aroma of wheat, yeast, coriander seed, alcohol, lemons, hay, grass and a bit of light hops. Light-bodied; Sharp lemony and pungent malt flavours dominate with a definite coriander seed and metallic kick to the flavour, with some subdued sweetness on the finish. Aftertaste shows more bitterness with some defined grass and herbal flavours, some mild sweetness and a slightly complex finish. Overall, a nice light beer that still has some flavour, but not as complex or as deep as I would have thought, especially for the scores. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Harris Teeter in Arlington (Pentagon Row), Virginia on 30-July-2014 for US$22,00 for a twelve pack, sampled at home here a few blocks away in Washington on 02-September-2014.
