2014 Beer Camp Across America Release.

For beer folks, Chico, CA, and New Glarus, WI, are must-see capitals on the U.S. brewing map, but getting between the two is no simple feat. There and Back is named for the planes, trains, and zeal needed to connect them. This classic English-style Bitter is a complex yet easy-drinking mix of toasty malt and a fruity, herbal hop flavor.

New Glarus is fiercely loyal to its home state, growing to one of the largest breweries in the U.S. without selling a single drop outside of the borders of Wisconsin. With those local tastes in mind, New Glarus has perfected traditional German styles and invented masterful versions of complex and intense fruit beers featuring Wisconsin-grown ingredients.

Bottle from Beer Camp 12 pack at Total Wine in Boca Raton. Home snifter. Pours a dark golden orange with a small ringed head and not much haze. Aroma is a combination of nutty, caramel malts and a fruity hop profile. The taste is caramel and nutty malt, with a fruity and pine hop profile. The finish has the slight malty bitterness that makes that ESB taste. Medium texture, slight creamy on the palette.

Bottle. Pours a mostly clear orange-amber with a white head. Nose is some biscuit, some caramel, some fruity esters, and some earthy fruit (plum? cherry?). Flavor starts biscuity than moves to bitter than to mildly fruity then back to bitter and biscuity in the finish. Light to medium in body and a very nice bitter overall.

Orange copper color with a white head. Aroma is toasty malt. Taste is slight citrus with a slight herbal maybe mint note. Toasty and sweet malt. Nothing over the top, not underwhelming. Solid, not too thin.

Nose of cinnamon, a bit of caramel, oranges. Glowing orange-red color. Malty, bready flavor, spice, some citrus. Very well balanced, good malt showcase.

Really, I thought it was a step up from draft offerings At sports events, with the bitterness, albeit the slight Bitterness. #6 of 12 in the pack order.

Draft at Global Brew EDW. This was just plain good. It had pleasant fruit, yeast, mild bitterness, and a heavy malt bill. Really well done and it is a style that tends to have little difference from one to another.

Very enjoyable for what it’s not, over the top. And for beer camp, restrained in the hopping to allow the style to shine. light copper, extremely well balanced with nice interplay of malt and mild hops, caramel, slighht spice, light carbonation. good.

Medium amber pour with lofty head. Aroma has pleasing pine, caramel malt, and smokiness, but also hints of some strange medicinal notes as well. Kind of like cherry cough syrup. On the tongue there is slight bitterness. Taste brings dose of caramel malts with some roastiness. Again something weirdly medicinal. Not bad, but not my cup of tea.

This golden brown beer has caramel aroma and smokey flavor. It is very smooth and easy drinking yet has a lot a interesting levels of flavor which take time to develop fully on the palate. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
