COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
2014 Beer Camp Across America Release.

Inspired by the perennial café favorite, Double Latte combines two of the greatest things in life: good coffee and great beer. Oregon’s Ninkasi Brewing knows their way around a good cup of joe. Featuring cold-press coffee from the legendary Stumptown Coffee Roasters and a dose of milk sugar, this coffee milk stout is a rich and roasty treat.

This young-gun brewery has a locomotive charge. A rich conversation at a local bottle shop in 2005 has morphed into a Pacific Northwest staple. Named after the Sumerian goddess of fermentation, Ninkasi’s first batch of beer was Total Domination IPA and it remains a must for those with a lupulin itch.

Bottle from a mix pack from Total Wine in Sacramento, CA. Pours rich dark brown with a slight tan head. Strong coffee aroma. Med body. Flavor is very strong and dark coffee. Hints of lactose and dark malt. It is bitter in a dark chocolate sort of way. Bitter however considered. Coffee, coffee, coffee. The Mikk guys better watch out.

Bottle @ home. Black in color with khaki head. Nose has some really nice coffee and espresso character. Licorice, nice sweet dark fruit, fig, and a hint of ash. Slightly earthy and some nice leafy hops. There’s a good bitterness to the flavor. Some char and a hint of burnt sugar. Sweet fig and raisin. Licorice, some earth, and a touch leafy. Pretty good stuff.

Bottle. Poured black color with medium tan frothy head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Medium to heavy roasted chocolate malt and lactic aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy toasted sweet flavor with a medium to heavy dark sweet finish of moderate duration. My expectations where met with a very good sweet stout.

Bottle @ home. Thanks to R@@@@@@@@@ for picking me this up in San Jose. Pours a brown appearance with a lasting frothy brown head. A bit chalky, quite roasty nose. Lots of chocolate, milk sugar, and coffee. Creamy mouth feel. A touch of fruitiness in the mouth but mostly just creamy coffee and chocolate goodness. A fair amount of coffee bitterness on the finish. Good stuff.

12 ounce bottle fron the Beer Camp Across America pack, opened 7/27/14. I saved this one for last because a lot of people say it’s their favorite, so don’t let me down people! Pours a dark brown color with red highlights. Thin creamy tan head. Fair head retention. Aroma of roasted malts, coffee, dark chocolate and a hint of vanilla. The taste is chocolate, roast, vanilla, coffee, hints of dark fruit. Medium bodied, low carbonation, slight lingering roast.
