2014 Beer Camp Across America Release.

Inspired by the perennial café favorite, Double Latte combines two of the greatest things in life: good coffee and great beer. Oregon’s Ninkasi Brewing knows their way around a good cup of joe. Featuring cold-press coffee from the legendary Stumptown Coffee Roasters and a dose of milk sugar, this coffee milk stout is a rich and roasty treat.

This young-gun brewery has a locomotive charge. A rich conversation at a local bottle shop in 2005 has morphed into a Pacific Northwest staple. Named after the Sumerian goddess of fermentation, Ninkasi’s first batch of beer was Total Domination IPA and it remains a must for those with a lupulin itch.

> Top notch highly aromatic coffee stout

[ Bottle ][ 12oz ][ Costco Vista ][ $1.50- ][ Reidel Vinum XL Pinot Noir ][ 7.17.14 ]
>> Pours a clear deep brown, thicker tan foam with excellent lacing. Nose is excellent coffee, vanilla latte, hazelnut, huge tobacco. One of the better coffee beer aromas I’ve experienced. Taste is medium bodied, fariyl dry, lots of cocoa nibs, chalky cocoa powder, some semisweet chocolate bar. Palate is rich and silky, mild spiciness. This was easily the second best beer from the 24 pack Beer Across America case. Everything else was ok and meh. Torpedo Pils was a Top 5 world pilsner. This is a spot on coffee stout. Highly enjoyable. Hell yes for Oregon’s cold pressed coffee!

>!< a tad chalky, but in a cocoa nib crunchy way

Black body with a tan head. The aroma has a strong coffee presence, with some chocolate and burnt notes. There is a touch of caramel mixed in there too. The flavor packs a lot of coffee upfront, with a nice transition into sweet, roasty stout. The finish comes out very well balanced, with some sharp coffee notes blending with smooth residual sugars. Rich body with no alcohol notes.

Bottle. Pours opaque black with creamy tan head. Aroma is coffee, roasted malts, milk chocolate, faint earthiness, and very faint prunes. Flavor is coffee and roast malts forward, dark chocolate, light lacto, earthy/ashy hop bitterness, and faint dark fruit sweetness. Medium body and carbonation.

From a bottle. Pours very dark brown with a bubbly tan head. Tastes like bitter dark coffee, burnt malt, earthy. Light body and low carbonation. Smells like earth, roasted malt, bitter coffee, light alcohol.

Bottle. Pretty much everything you’d expect from a beer called "double latte." Black coffee, with a thin but well retaining head of tan, with a lactose wave atop the giant java undertow. (#5738, 9/14/2014)

Bottle, as pictured. Poured a dark brown opaque color. Very very heavy on the coffee, somewhat on the chocolate. Certainly very sweet.

Jet black with a tan head and minimal lace. Deep rich bittersweet baker’s chocolate and roasted coffee. Full body, lusciously creamy smooth mouthfeel and a rich dark chocolate finish.

Dry malt and chocolate roasty coffee aromas. Bone colored head and very dark brown almost black body. Strong coffee and berry flavors with some cocoa and dry malts. Smooth on the palate.

Black with a fair khaki head. Lots of fantastic coffee character. Lighter bitterness. Not super roasty. Just enough sweetness. Not super complex but really good. Always love a good coffee beer.
