3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Part of the 12 pack Beer Camp series. Total Wine in Boca Raton. Drank at home in a snifter. Pours a cloudy orange-light brown with a mild fluffy head. Aroma is hoppy with pine and spruce, a light wheat/grain aroma, and citrus. The taste is similar with a citrus profile, slight bitter pineyness, and a malty backbone with a hint of rye. Slight bitter finish. Moderate carb and a medium to light body.

355ml can - thanks VastActiv! (6-:3:5:2+:11=2.7)
Sweet porridgy aroma. Even more porridgy taste. Sticky and harsh drying palate. No balance. Messy. Sticky. No thanks. Not getting the mammi or breadiness I like from rye, and not getting anything I like that’s bocky.

330ml can @laiti’s, thanks. Dark amber color. No head, flat. Sweet, malty, bit starchy, fruity aroma. Sweet, citrus, fruity taste. Sweet fruity aftertaste. Somewhat messy and I think I had something like before. More than once.

I enjoy rye in beer because I think it adds a depth and spice that is hard to find elsewhere. With this brew the rye added a nice alternative to the regular sweet malty bock that is all too common. You get the initial caramel malt profile with a good helping of earthy hops but the middle gets all spicy and rustic from the rye. An interesting twist.

Can (~1 year old). Mildly hoppy nose. Surprising hop character; virtually no rye notes. A mild caramel, raisin sweetness. Overall meh.

Least favorite of all the beer camps I have tried today. Still worth drinking but my least favorite of the day.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Can. Amber orange. Strong malty, sort of huskey, grainy, rye. Red caramels, herbs. Quite full bodied, bit sweet malty, but with a bitter dry clean finish. Old leaves, huskey malty. clean. flavourful. But sort of .. harsh. Strange one. Might be old.. the transport.. something, but feels really mediocre, or even sub that. A herb harsh- hoppy bock.

[Tap] Pours a bright amber color with about an inch of white head on top. Nice rye malt and grassy hop aromas. Flavors of rye, citrus peel, lemongrass, hay, biscuits and floral notes. Mild resinous notes as well. Nice and spicy. Not too sweet. Medium bodied. Tasting notes from 7/2014.
