2014 Beer Camp Across America Release.

As longtime friends, Russian River brewmaster Vinnie Cilurzo and our own Brian Grossman are no strangers to brewing experiments. While looking for inspiration for this collaboration, Vinnie and Brian decided to honor the creations of legendary Belgian brewer Yvan De Baets with their own hop-forward American-Belgian mash-up.

From complex Belgian-inspired styles to American wild ales and hoppy Double IPA’s, Russian River always pushes boundaries while respecting technique and quality. Co-owners Vinnie and Natalie Cilurzo are longtime friends of Sierra Nevada and they always have a six-pack of Pale Ale in their fridge at home.

Bottle from the 12 pack Beer Camp from Total Wine in Boca Raton. Snifter in my dining room. Pours a light gold with a very slight haze. Small white fluffy head. Aroma is cereal, Belgian yeasts, slight spice, banana, cloves. Teh taste is similar with a slight dry funkiness and hoppiness that is not as characteristic of a Belgian blonde. Nice carbonation and refreshing body. FInish is dry spices and hoppy. Very nice job.

Crisp, very hazy golden coloured body with a ridiculously large light yellow/tan head and some straw coloured glow on the body. Aroma of fresh yeast, coriander seed, curacao, honey, grain, lemons and a lot of herbs - very nice and fragrant. Medium-bodied; Assertive herbal spiciness up front with a big yeast and coriander seed kick and a good deal of honey and floral notes on the finish. Aftertaste shows a touch of hops with some light grain and a little yeast, but mostly dry and herbaceous with no sweetness at all. Overall, a good and dry saison with a nice robust kick and a peppery finish at the end - good to sample and this should really be re-categorised to a saison. I sampled this stubby twelve ounce bottle purchased from Harris Teeter in Arlington (Pentagon Row), Virginia on 30-July-2014 for US$22,00 for the twelve pack, sampled at home in Washington on 29-September-2015.

Bottle shared at Leighton’s place. Many thanks to Leighton. Light hazed yellow / straw coloured of frothy white head. Aroma is peach, apricot, like wheat, fresh, tangy. Flavour is composed of white peach, apricot, light Weise, light phenol, Belgian yeast. Palate is airy refreshing carbonation, semi dry in the finish. Really tasty.

Bottle thanks to Leighton. It pours lightly hazy gold with a thick white head. The nose is soft, doughy, freshly baked bread, grainy, cereal and light spice. The taste is crisp, bitter, toasty grain, bread, cereal, peppery spice, straw, cracker, lemon rind and toasty grass with a dry finish. Medium body and moderate, foamy carbonation. Pretty alright stuff.

Where and how: GG Virginia Beach, bottle 335 ml.
Aroma straw hay, clean alcohol with Belgian yeast. A bit too straight forward.
Appearance :
Top: large, very fine bright snowy white top. Good lace shown.
Base: golden bright white bottom.
Palate : medium bodied, milder carbonation, touch of soft chewy texture.
Taste: well done, yes...but also very pedestrian. Clean, balanced, and well thought. Yet it can’t escape feel of ordinary.

Poured a cloudy golden color with aromas of bread, light banana, spicy yeast, and some light fruit. Flavors were light tropical fruit, and banana, and some light spicy yeast, solid overall.
