COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
2014 Beer Camp Across America Release.

3 Floyds has a reputation as the Midwestern kings of alpha (hops), and it seems that one of our beers helped to lure them down the lupulin-paved path. Chico King is a mash-up of our mutual passion for hoppy pale ales and combines a uniquely robust malt body with intense citrusy and fruity new school hop varietals.

3 Floyds marches to the beat of their own (double kick) drum when it comes to collaboration, often partnering with comic book artists, tattoo parlors or heavy metal bands when inspiration strikes. These eclectic beers are coveted throughout the Midwest and some beers, like the legendary Dark Lord Imperial Stout, have spawned something akin to a beer-themed holiday in the brewery’s hometown of Munster, IN.

Bottle from Beer Camp 12 pack box. Home snifter. Pours an amber with a one finger head. Aroma is pine with muddled soil and grass/weeds. The taste is also a little earth/peat with a pine and wet grass taste. Kind of hop bitterness with a wet grass finish. Not my favorite of the group. Medium light body and moderate carb.

Maybe I got to my Beer Camp case a bit late, but this was awful. Pour was a light orange, no head. Aroma was faint citrus and sweet malt. Taste followed the nose. Little to no flavor and seemed flat. Bad bottle? I’ve drank others from the box and they seemed fine.

Surprisingly you get very lite of the hop aroma you would expect. Instead this beautiful rick gold colored beer has a malt forward flavor and aroma. It is smokey and almost a touch sweet. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

A tastey alpha. If you enjoy the singular taste of alpha. It's like enjoying one thing and one thing only. It is ok and meaty. The alpha hop has a greater taste than the typical hop. Certainly this beer will appeal to those picky fuckers who only like alpha. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

12oz bottle. Amber Brown. Malty bread nose. Earthy flavors, malt forward, weak hops. Nothing special. Mild bitter finish. Its ok.

Quite a nice pale ale. Pours a great deep orange with a thick white head. Smells of pine, hops, cloves and banana. Taste is well balanced, with lots of banana and pine, and a bit of hops in the finish. Had in the bottle.

Light dry hoppy aromas and some crisp citrus. Light foamy white head and mid amber body. Crisp juicy hops and some dry citrus flavor. Crisp and refreshing.

Summary: Given the two breweries on this beer, I was disappointed.

Medium amber body. Light hops and plenty of malt on the nose - a little bready. Taste is malt forward with roasty notes. Hops bring bitterness and hints of citrus. Pine comes through on the finish. Medium mouthfeel with little carbonation and dry finish.

[Bottle (12oz)] Pours a deep orange-amber with a large lasting frothy beige head. Minimal lacing. Mild biscuity aroma along with some caramel, fruit, light hops and light sugary sweetness. Flavour of toasted caramel malt, light hops, a bit of fruit and an average bitter finish. Medium bodied. Not sure what they were going for but I wouldn’t call this a Pale Ale, whatever it is it’s enjoyable.

Smells pleasantly hoppy, like fresher IPA. Look is darker orange and cleaer. Mouth coating from the start. Barely any co2. Rude in yer face hops here baby. Astringent sharp nasty nellie. Not impressed. In IPA territory.
