COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
2014 Beer Camp Across America Release.

Brewers are notorious for refusing to take the easy path. Instead, we lead with our hearts and pursue our passions no matter how difficult the road ahead. Alt Route is a tribute to this stubborn spirit that drove us to dodge the status quo and found breweries. Together we chased the siren song of beer with this revamped take on an antique beer style.

Like us, Victory is one of the few brewers with an allegiance to whole-cone hops. They do extensive work with hop flavor, especially focusing on clever and delicious single-hop beers highlighting the same hop grown in different regions. They too share our roots in home brewing and never lost their passion for working with new beers and styles solely for the joy of making something new.

Alt Route is our take on the old school German Altbier style featuring an ale-lager hybrid yeast, which is top fermenting and fruity like an ale, but matured at cool temperatures for a clean, lager-like flavor. This deep amber beer has a slight emphasis on the richly layered, slightly sweet malt body with enough citrusy hop flavor and aroma to produce a balanced, dry finish.

Bottle poured a clear reddish amber with a small lasting amber head. Aromas of caramel and earthiness. Palate was light to medium bodied and crisp. Flavors of caramel, light earthiness and a hint of fruitiness with a crisp lingering caramel finish.

Not my favorite from Beer Camp, but still good for the style. Pours a rich mahogany with quickly diminishing white head. Has crisp notes of lager but malty sweetness of a scotch style ale. Hops balance it nicely and keep it from being cloying. Caramel and toast up front and grapefruit at the end. Finish is fairly bitter for style. Decent. Don’t need another.

[Tap] Copper pour with a quickly receding white head. Toasted breads, cereal grains, toffee and light fruity notes in the aroma. Caramel, sticky honey, raisins and dough in the flavor. Fuller in body and more malty than many beers of this style. Crisp and lightly bitter finish. Tasting notes from 7/2014.

Pours clear dark copper color with a small head. Hay and wet cardboard on the nose, mild caramel too. Hay and malts on the flavor too, quite straightforward, some hoppy bitterness on the finish. Decent hoppy Alt.

35,5 cl bottle @ lusikka, BBE 04.06.2014
Aroma is rarther mild with bready malt and grapefruit. Flavour has grapefruit, some mint and hints of bready malt. Finishes with toffee. Easy-going but quite hard to get a grip of this one.
