Charlie Papazian and Fred Eckhart are the men who launched a thousand breweries. Their writing on the art of homebrewing and steadfast promotion of beer culture helped propel the craft brewing movement. Charlie and Fred agreed to work with us on this special ale in honor of our 30th anniversary. This Imperial Helles Bock is a testament to the ever-evolving brewer’s art. Bold yet balanced with distinct toasted malt character, moderate sweetness and clean and floral hops.

Lightly hazy amber beer, short lived off white head. Light palate, starts crisp but rapidly turns soft. Sweetish malts with a little caramel, vaguely tripel like but dark. Well integrated citrus hop. Turns softer with sweet caraway malt. Nicely joined up and very drinkable.

750, c&c from the Co-Op in Davis, CA. Pours like fine champagne - little bubbles on the glass (Maredsous glass) with a foamy 4 finger off-white head and an aged amber gold color. Aromas of mildly roasted malt and light floral hop. Medium plus body with mild carbonation. Flavor is lightly roasted malt and a nice floral aspect. It makes me think oak and astringent in a mild way. I think it finishes balanced, perhaps a tad towards the hoppy side. In the end bitter dominates the mouth. Really good drink.
