3.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Golden color with an impressive head that holds its form. I didn’t get much in the aroma. Big malts, a touch of spice. Smooth, considerable body. The malts linger with some of the bitterness of the hops. Tight carbonation. I don’t have a lot of past experience drinking this style of beer, but this tastes quite good. Very enjoyable, an easy recommendation.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
UPDATED: MAY 3, 2015 Bottle. Slightly hazy golden colour with substantial white foam. Aromas of hops, yeast, and flowers, complex and enticing. Taste: lots of malts, a bit of caramel, yeast, combined with hoppy bitterness. Good balance between sweet and bitter, hints of spices. Medium carbonation. A hoppier take on a classic German style, this is a great beer!

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Testad på Linköping beer expo. Doftar som en engelsk barley wine, dvs maltigt och sött. Smakar som en blandning mellan en engelsk barley wine och en veteöl med lite extra beska. Något oljig munkänsla. God men inte överväldigande god.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
A - A bright light copper/amber body with an attractive creamy white head
S - Sweet and malty (pils?), with hints of bread, brown sugar, and spicy hops.
T - Malt flavors dominant, and the high ABV is nicely hidden. Tempered sweetness. True to style but enhanced flavor profile that has more boldness (although this isn’t a bold beer) and complexity than usual.
M - Medium;light body and smooth, but with moderate-to-lively carbonation.
O - A hearty Helles bock. Normally, not one of my favorite styles but this beer was very pleasing and work work well as a session beer. Recommended for Maibock fans.

Great beer! Large sample pour of bright golden that struggles to build a white head. Nose is some caramel, some light herbal notes, some swee malt. Flavor drinks like a blond dopplebock. Easy drinking for 8%

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
The aroma is malt, bread and Belgium yeast. Pours a clear copper/orange with a mostly diminishing frothy head and good lacing. The taste is sweet, sour and bitter. The body is medium, the texture creamy, the carbonation lively and the finish long. Not bad

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
an interesting beer to say the least. advertised at the local sierra tap house as an imperial helles bock. looks like a bock. aroma is huge...sweet, hoppy, malty, complex. love it. body is full...maybe even a little thick by the end. flavor is complex too, but maybe a touch too heavy. this is definitely a unique, fairly aggressive for the style brew, somewhat sweet...worth a shot."

From the corked, caged bottle cellared for three years and opened on May 1, 2014 to celebrate Spring and my 1,900th rating. The pour is copper-amber leading up to a modest off-white head that fades some but leaves plenty of lacing in its wake. How malty is that? Lots of caramel malts and butterscotch on the nose. A touch of meaty fruit maybe? Not typical for the style but it is probably the best description I can think of. In some ways it reminds me more of a Wee Heavy than a Helles Bock. Sweet. Little to no hop aroma. Medium to full body and smooth. Like the nose there is a full and sweet malty character in the taste. Not bitter or dry but truly malted. I never tried it fresh so I can’t make a good comparison but I enjoyed it aged.
