COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
First of series. Fritz Maytag, owner of San Franciscoís Anchor Brewing Company, is regarded as the founding father of the craft brewing movement. Frtiz agreed to guest brew this very special ale with us in honor of our 30th anniversary. As a nod to the dark ales and stouts that seduced both Fritz and Ken in the early years, we bring you this pioneering stout, a rich and roasted ale, perfect for aging, and worthy of your finest snifter. Enjoy!

A good, strong stout. Not my ideal stout, as its more earthy and hoppy than how I like them. Nevertheless, Iíd drink it again.

2010 drinken in 2016. APPEARANCE- extremely black slight head and lacing is minimal. NOSE- deep rich notes, highlighting fig notes. slightly boozy. FLAVOR- slightly bitter. Suprising considering the way it looks and smells. I was encouraged to open it but it seems like it was opened a little too late in its aging life, or perhaps a little too early to really change in character. Iím really intrigued by it.

Black brew is completely opaque until held to a light and a bit of deep brown shows near the stem of the goblet... Dark brown head.. okay retention and lacing. Nose is simple yet very forthright in everything expected from a West Coast Impy Stout.... very roasty... some dark fruits that make me think of Bing Cherries... and a blast of dry cocoa. Flavor is surprisingly dry throughout.. roasty dark malts... some cocoa combines with espresso... more char than I normally like, but I appreciate in this setting.... very dry on the finish. Expected medium body with an abundant carbonation that seems on the high side for me.

Bottle share at Cotteridge II as Sierra Nevada 30th Anniversary Fritz & Kenís Ale. Many thanks to The Kernel via Scopey. Opaque black, no real head. Aroma is fruity and hoppy, liquorice, floral. Body is smooth, soft carbonation. Taste is again very hop-forward Ė floral, salty, tangy, pine, smooth coffee, roast malt and a pretty dry finish. Very nice. (3.9)

Bottle. (From old notes). Looks like a stout - nice brown head. Cocoa powder in the nose and flavour. Some maraschino cherries. Roasty finish. Full, creamy body. Great stuff.
