4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
750 ml bottle into snifter, bottled 7/12/2010(exactly 2 years old now). Pours fairly pitch black color with an impressive 1-2 finger fairly dense khaki head with great retention that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Some nice fairly dense lacing clings tightly to the glass and slowly cascades down the side. Aromas of huge caramel, raisin, earth, molasses, pine, toast, cocoa, herbal, biscuit, roasted malt, and herbal spiciness. Hugely complex aromas with fantastic balance and strength. Taste of big caramel, chocolate, toast, nuttiness, molasses, biscuit, toffee, roasted malt, pine, earth, raisin, and herbal spiciness. Fair amount of spicy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, chocolate, toffee, toast, biscuit, nuttiness, roasted malt, earth, pine, and herbal spiciness on the finish for a while. Outstanding flavor complexity and balance; still has a good amount of spicy hop character after 2 years. Medium carbonation and full bodied; with a very creamy, slick, and slightly chalky mouthfeel that is very nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a small warming noticed after the finish. Very smooth to sip on as well. Overall this is a world class barleywine! Huge complexity and flavor balance; and very smooth. Easily one of the best barelywines I have ever had.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle at the parentals with my dad. Pour is deep, murky brown with a frothy brown head and great lacing. Caramel, toffee, woody, minty, roasty, herbal, figgy, and plummy aroma. Taste roasty, slightly oxidized, black licorice, chocolate, raisins, figs, toffee, sticky bread, and biscuity with a lightly roasted finish. Creamy mouthfeel with soft carbonation. Pretty good.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Iím currently rating every SN brew Iíve ever had in one clean sweep.
I grew up on the classic SN Pale having it around during high school, and since have watched SN grow into a national representation of incredible craft beer. Living 45 mins away is a treat for the random growler fill. Keep up the amazing work and thanks!

Pours a mahogany body with a medium beige head. Aroma of roasted malt, cherry, raisins, caramel, pine, toffee, and grapefruit. Flavor is a lot stronger and darker than other Barleywines I have had. Notes of caramel, cherry, roasted malt, herbs, raisins, and citrus.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Pours dark brown with tan head. Aroma of chocolate, oxidation, brown sugar, vanilla and caramel. Old beer goodness. Sherry and chocolate. Sweet up front, dry finish. Full body. Light carb, slick, smooth texture. Overall: nice. The chocolate and oxidized flavors play really well with each other. Would have been interested to try this fresh, because it comes together very well right now.
