Bottle. Poured a hazy light brown with an average sized white creamy head that lasted throughout and had excellent lacing. The aroma was heavy with the scent of a pine hop, grain malts and a light sweet yeast with notes of cirtus, banana and mango. It tasted mildly sweet and slightly bitter at first and then became slighty more bitter and a little acidic with notes of fruit and a nice hoppy finish that lasted a nice long time. Mouthfeel was light to medium in body and dry in texture with a flat carbonation. Overall a friggin great marriage of Sierra Nevada’s ale collection.

Dark amber body, white head. Aroma has quite regular strong ale notes, some raisins, resiny hoppiness, some medicinal hops and caramel with alcohol. Lots of caramel in flavour, raisins, some coffee. Quite warming with alcohol and really nicely balanced. Charming strong ale.

650 ml bottle. 02776. From bierzwerg.de.
Murky brown colour with a small creamy light tan head. Dark fruity, mildly hoppy, sweet malty and raisins in the aroma. The flavour is very dark hoppy with resin and piney notes, quite strong bitterness, sweet maltiness and mild molasses. Tasty.

750ml bottle, shared with the group. Hazy darker brick-red color. Good thin khaki head. Little, loose reaches of lace. Nice light caramel malt, good lightly spicy, light herbal, earthy hop notes. Good oak influence in the nose too, some dark fruit. Nice bitter taste. Some maltiness, but less sweet. Nice smooth, lighter carbonation. Good moderate creaminess. Moderately dry - dry enough, not too dry. A great amount of dryness, nice balance. Good oaky, malty, smooth aftertaste. Love that spicy, earthy, hop / malt aftertaste, very tasty and complex. Drinking great right now. Nice prominent hoppiness, but very smooth. Good agreeable malt to it, as well.

750 ml bottle to snifter (thanks DrSilverworm). Looks good; a murky burnt-orange with off-white lacing. Smells malty and hoppy with notes from all three contributors. Tastes like it smells, with a nice, sweet barleywine mouthfeel.

750 ml bottle into snifter, bottled on 10/8/2010. Pours extremely hazy deep ruby red color with a nice 1-2 finger dense cream colored head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Nice soapy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of big orange, grapefruit, orange rind, pear, apple, caramel, pine, toast, toffee, brown sugar, floral, oak, light bourbon, and floral earthiness. Fantastic aromas with big balance and complexity of hop, malt, and oak notes. Taste of big orange, grapefruit, orange rind, caramel, pine, toast, toffee, floral, oak, brown sugar, brown bread, light bourbon, and floral hop earthiness. Light pine and citrus bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of citrus, caramel, pine, toast, toffee, brown bread, floral, oak, brown sugar, and floral earthiness on the finish for a while. Fantastic balance and complexity of hop and malt flavors; with a great subtle oak presence and moderate bitterness balancing the malt sweetness; and zero cloying sweetness present on the finish. Medium carbonation and fairly full bodied; with a creamy, slick, and lightly sticky mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is extremely well hidden with only a slight warming noticed after the finish; very smooth to sip on. Overall this is an absolutely incredible American strong blended ale! Huge complexity and balance of hop and malt notes; and extremely smooth to sip on. An extremely awesome offering, top notch stuff as expected.

For my 500th rating, I wanted to have something special. Since Sierra Nevada is near and dear to me and I’ve been aging a few of the 30th Anniversary beers, this seemed like an obvious choice. When I saw this on the label: "Drink it now, or save it for a future anniversary of your own.", I knew this was the one! Ruddy amber body with a light tan head. Wood, candy sugar and cream in the aroma. All of these follow directly into the flavor along with light molasses and leather, and also a surprising coconut milk component . Lots of caramel and butterscotch sweetness that’s balanced by a nice earthy bitterness that’s quite pronounced but in perfect balance. Celebration and Bigfoot definitely come through in their individual deliciousness, and they combine wonderfully. Finishes sweet with a good alcohol warmth. This gets better with every sip and I think aging has improved it from the first time I tried it.

A nice mahogany body with a brown head that had some retention and great lace. Aroma had a strong hop note upfront I could really detect the some of the notes from the Bigfoot. Nice grapefruit and pine hops paired up really well. Sweet caramel malts balanced it out fairly well. Hints of wood and vanilla rounded out the aroma. Flavor was initially sweet malts, great hop notes balanced it out and the oak and alcohol finished out the beer well. Nice amount of carbonation. Overall the Bigfoot seemed to stick out the most, but there was enough of the other beers to keep it interesting.
