Commercial Description:
The 2007 Anniversary Ale features prominent usage of Cascade hops– the signature hop used in Sierra Nevada’s most popular product, Pale Ale. It is an American Style IPA with a big, fragrant pine and citrus hop aroma balanced by the sweetness of two-row pale and caramel malt. It finishes with an additional Cascade dry-hopping creating a big hop aroma Sierra Nevada fans will look forward to.

It poured a hazy golden liquid with a small foam that left some lacing. The aroma had allot of grassy hops. The flavor was dry, with grassy hops and a medium-high bitterness. Lean and easy to drink without getting boring.

Dominant bitter hop taste. Mouthful fruity flavor of grapefruit and orange with honey and pine notes. Dryish bitter aftertaste. Beautiful orange color. Grapefruit smell.

This is a really good beer. Strong smells and tastes of floral hops and citrus. Very clean and refreshing; this is one of my favorites from Sierra Nevada.

2007 Version. Medium to dark copper color with a tall, fine head. Clear. Strong cascade hop aroma, lots of citrus and other fruits, with a faint background of rich barley. Flavor is also amazingly hoppy. Very fruity and lots of citrus, plus very bitter as well. There is a slight malty warmth in the background with a hint of sweetness, but it is really only there to support the hops. A touch of caramel, but mostly grapefruit. The finish has a touch of malt warmth as well, but is mainly dry and bitter, and the hops linger a long, long time. An interesting beer to be sure, but a little out of balance to me. It certainly is well made, though I would prefer a little more malt.

Clear amber color, mild half inch head. Sharp citrus and smooth woody notes in the nose. Lemon zest citric notes up front, balances more towards the back of the palate.

Pours a beautiful light golden orange. Perfect finger’s head. Smells of hops and pine. Taste is strong on hops and pine in the forefront, but finishes with a fantastic oak. The more I drink the more that oak flavor keeps peering through. Carbonation and body are perfect, sticks to your tongue, but washes clean.

2008 version, from Rhythm & Booze in Brigg. Faintly hazy red gold, good lasting fluffy white head and good condition. Full citrusy sweet cascade hop in the nose with some orangey maltiness, quite bitter and dry in the mouth with some underlying chalky citrus notes and lingering floral cascade hoppiness, lingering chalky bitter finish but tempered by some background sweet citrus maltiness.

Pours hazy golden brown with a nice off white head. Aroma is citrusy hop. Taste is nice grapefruit like hops with a big bitter finish. Pretty good.
