decaturstevo (1971), decatur, Tennessee, USA Oct 16, 2008 Orangish amber pour. Aroma of grapefruit struck me first. Medium malt and a pretty pleasant bitter finish. Medium bodied and well carbed. Pretty nice beer. jbuzz (658), South Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA Oct 16, 2008 Smacks you with the hops right away !! Great beer. Some bitterness and a bit of acid. illkarate (89), Bloomington, Indiana, USA Oct 11, 2008 Pours a classic clear amber/orange. Minimal head, off white in color. Nice lacing on the glass. Intense hop flavor, grapefruit, pomelo, pine... hints of a spice or two that I can’t identify. It’s a bit thin, but overall, this is a really good beer. j12601 (1151), Poughkeepsie, New York, USA Oct 11, 2008 Tap at the Beechtree. Strong hoppy and citrus aroma. Nice rich dark amber color, with a good lingering mouth feel. jvmiller (532), Bel Air, Maryland, USA Oct 10, 2008 Nice IPA, very strong citrus presence. Suprisingly good. Very aromatic, nice aroma hops, not overpoweringly bitter. Cybercat (778), Georgia, USA Oct 10, 2008 Aroma is richly hoppy, so hoppy that is has a strong evergreen hint. Color is a clear, golden amber with a very thick off-white head that hangs around for a while. Flavor is seriously hoppy but not nastily bitter - not complex, but a delight for any "hop head." There is just a teeny hint of sweetness. It leaves behind a refreshing piny flavor and a fair amount of satisfying bitterness. BeerBlockaid (538), Jacksonville, Florida, USA Oct 10, 2008 Updated: Aug 17, 20092008. Nose is nice and spicey. Some grain notes and a light whaff of roastiness. Taste is malty and there is that sierra nevada Cascade hops bitterness. It’s well balanced and refreshing. There are citrus hints in it, and some other flavours. Has a abtrusive bite to it in the mouth. Overall, I was dissapointed in this brew because I expected more from those Chico folks. It’s not a bad brew by any means, just, was wishing for something a bit more "wow." 2009 rating. damn, got shafted into the same thing this year. still dang good but yea, just realized after a 6 pack I had this last year. marksahara (79), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Oct 10, 2008 12 oz bottle - 2007 vintage. Pours a vivid amber with ~1.5-2 fingers of creamy white crown that has excellent retention and fingery lacing. Aroma is spicy, with citrus, floral, and resiny hops, as well as a detectable malt and biscuit undertone. Flavour is intensely hoppy with citrus and spice tastes, like grapefruit and mace, but gives way to a biscuity malt taste before ending crisply and dry with more floral hops. Mouthfeel is semi-creamy, medium-bodied, and spritely carbonation. Well done and very balanced. A great west coast style IPA that doesn’t overpower.
