Commercial Description:
The 2007 Anniversary Ale features prominent usage of Cascade hops– the signature hop used in Sierra Nevada’s most popular product, Pale Ale. It is an American Style IPA with a big, fragrant pine and citrus hop aroma balanced by the sweetness of two-row pale and caramel malt. It finishes with an additional Cascade dry-hopping creating a big hop aroma Sierra Nevada fans will look forward to.

Bottle. Poured a clear golden-amber color with a thick, dense off-white head that slowly faded and left spotty lacing as she did. Lightly piney, leafy, floral hops with some undertones of orange and sweet grapefruit, along with a soft hint of caramel. Smooth, lightly bitter and spicy entry with a light leafy character leads into a lightly bitter hop hit with some light earthy notes and some soft grapefruit on the finish. Smooth on the palate, but seems a bit thin. Definitely solid, but seems to be missing a bit of bitterness on the finish and seems a touch thin.

~Pours beautifully in a tulip glass. Hazy amber color with big fluffy white head. Hardly any lacing to speak of. ~Clean citrus hop scent with nice sweet malts and berry ~Nice balance in flavor of sweet malts and spicy bitter hops. ~Medium body, clean bitter finish. ~Very good after a spicy burrito. Nice enjoyable IPA.

Bottle from Foo Rion. Pours a nice caramel with decent head. Very strong aroma of floral hops. Fairly bitter and like the regular Sierra Nevada but a little different in flavor. Not bad, not my favorite.

Bottle from Total Wine. Pours a caramel/amber color and one inch of off-white head. Very floral aroma of piney hops. Light fruits, more bitter resinous hops, starfruit, and a strange herbal flavor that I can’t quite identify. Unusually thin carbonation for an IPA. Medium/full body. Good, but off-balance due to the thin carbonation and flavor.

Thick draught like head even though it came out of a bottle. Leaves lacing. Amber color. Flowery and hoppy aroma. Sweet flowery hops in the taste. Pretty nice mouthfeel. Not too bitter. Some citrus taste in there as well.

12oz, 2008 vintage. Pours a rich golden color, fairly clear with a white head. Nose is a fresh salad with grapefruit and prosciutto... mmmm... body follows, dropping some of the salinity from the nose. This is a cascade showcase, bowls upon bowls of grapefruit. Not very complex, but taking on a sweeter side of IPA. Decent carbonation but not over the top. I am continually impressed by Sierra’s seasonals.

Too heavy for my taste. I like Sierra Nevada pale ale but the Anniversary Ale is a bit much. I have 11 left in my fridge in the garage. I’m going to have to pawn the rest off on unsuspecting guests. I have two brothers in law who will drink anything.
