Beer2000 (1775), Kristiansand, Norway Jun 25, 2008 355ml bottle. Clear, golden orange body with a medium off-white head. Aroma is citrus and hay. Flavor is refreshing bitter with grapefruit fruitiness and a grassy bitter finish. Not really complicated but very well made. Taverner (827), San Ramon, California, USA Jun 24, 2008 2007 Vintage. More of a malty ’Midwest Style’ IPA. Pours copper clear with very little head. Aroma is all malts, with some hoppage in the nose. In flavor, however, the hops attack, making it one of SN’s bitter-er beers. Ends on a nice dry note, like a good IPA should. More bittering hops than florals, but this could just be because its 2007, and here it is halfway through 2008. larsga (2937), Oslo, Norway Jun 23, 2008 Medium offwhite shiny head does not last. Amber body. Strong citric tropical fruit aroma backed by a firm maltiness. Dry biscuity citric malts taste with chalky tropical fruit notes. Dry malty aftertaste. Nice! (0.33l bottle, St. Urho’s pub, Helsinki.) GuilTTy (527), Cherry Hill, New Jersey, USA Jun 21, 2008 Working off of old notes here but I’ve only sampled a couple brews today so I can still read... If you like SN’s annual Celebration Ale then you’ll like this one too, in fact, aside from Celebration’s ruby color, this one is hard to distinguish. Deep clear copper supporting a medium light tan head and thin curtains of lacing. Piney, citrusy aroma with a hint of fresh baked bread. Flavor of grapefruit, caramel, sweet malt and a little tart apple. Nicely balanced. Full bodied texture with just enough prickly carbonation and a snappy, bitter and dry finish. Joakgust (320), Stockholm, Sweden Jun 17, 2008 355 ml bottle - Hazy amber colored beer with a small but frothy ivory head. Aroma is strong but not overwhelming, with hints of grapefruit and unripe asian mango. Flavor is well hopped with hints of grapefruit, bitter orange and again unripe mango. A very good IPA, and very Sierra Nevada like. phishpond417 (1861), Madison, Wisconsin, USA Jun 13, 2008 IPA’s and Pale ales are definately SN’s most popular brews, and i love them for that! Pours a cloudy hazey copper body with a large white head. A nice pleasent slightly nutty aroma- very faint but noticeable. A hint of caramel, cloves, syrup and resiny hops in the taste. Overall very tastey. liinis (695), Helsinki, Finland Jun 8, 2008 golden with white head. Super delicious hops, but maybe slightly metallic.caramel aroma and flavor. hoplover (166), Corpus Christi, Texas, USA Jun 3, 2008 Updated: Aug 19, 2008The aroma is floral and spicy. I always love a darker copper-like redish color to my beer. The head is off white. The head is small but persistant. Great lacing. The cascade hops are definantly the star in this beer. I lke the flavor and aroma of the cascades. The spiciness of the hops are agressive more than floral aspects or pinyness. Sweet malts are in the back drop singing their melodies. The mouth feel was very smooth, but kinda watery to me. I need more IBUs! Nevertheless, thank you Sierra Nevada for this good beer. The Lord bless the hops harvest!
