The 2009 Anniversary Ale is brewed in the style of an American IPA, a style that Sierra Nevada create. This beer is a complex brew made up with a combination of four varieties of malts that add a rich and complex backbone to showcase our signature hop variety: the Cascade. This hop produces the big piney and citrusy flavors that Sierra Nevada beers are known for and is one of the varieties that have become the definition for what the new styles of American beers represent. welho (30), Finland

I was at a beer festival many years ago and had the chance to talk to Bert Grant. I asked him if he had a favorite brew. He said (of course) "My own, Grants. But if I had to choose another it woulld be Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, they really make a great beer." I never worry about a Sierra Nevada product. I dirnk them with impunity. You should too. philbertk (186), Seattle, Washington, USA

Copperish color
with a fairly good sized head.
Nice aroma of hops and a slight tone of malt to this.
Hop Lover’s Dream here! Piney flavor with a strong grapefruit flavor to this. Very drunkably and tasty. One of the better IPSa here. mesperon (153), Jersey City, New Jersey, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Dec 24, 2008 Pours hazy dark amber with a good sized head that leaves plenty of sticky lacing. Aroma is full of flowery hops, with just a hint of citrus, not sweetness or alcohol.
Mouthfeel is full, not fizzy, slightly on the watery side.
Tastes hoppy bitter to start, piney and flwery notes come out. Ends with a piney/grassy/bitter orange peel bitterness. Could have been a littel sweeter, malt base is missing.
