Our Bigfoot Barleywine is a craft beer legend. Each winter, this beast of a beer appears and wreaks havoc on unsuspecting palates with its intense bittersweet flavors. This yearin honor of the 30th Anniversary of this style-bending brew were releasing a very special version of this cult classic: Aged in oak whiskey casks for nearly two years, this barrel-aged Bigfoot is incredibly complex. The assault of resinous hops has mellowed, and the influence of the wood has shifted focus toward the maltwith rich burnt-sugar flavors and notes of vanilla, toasted coconut, and raisins. Grab this elusive beast while you can, because it wont be around for long.

Way harsh, a bit thin. Not really any finesse here. Burns on the way down and little to none when it comes to mellow vanilla and oak bourbon notes. Rather poorly done but relatively tasty I guess...just as long as you can get past the burning.

I regret drinking this now as opposed to letting it age. It is just too green and hot, but it should be lovely in a few years. I recommend the cellar for this beast.

Sampled from a bomber at the Big Texas Beer Fest. Poured a clear mahogany-brown with a thin cream head. Complex taste of whiskey, oak, sweet caramel malts, raisins, vanilla esters, with a subtle floral hop finish. Average carbonation, full bodied. Other thoughts: Now that the hops have mellowed, Im able to enjoy all the other flavors as they have come to the forefront making for a exceptionally well balanced brew.

Everything about the barrel-aged variety of Bigfoot is, in fact, Big. The body is a gloriously dark shade of brown with a huge head (incredible lacing, too, by the way). Aroma of bourbon, oak, dark fruit, and rich malt. Flavor is complex. Toffee, plum, prune, raisin, whiskey, rose hip. Bigfoot likes to be warm before it unveils its vanilla and toasted marshmallow flavors. If youre going to take on this beast, be advised: words like full-bodied and warm dont adequately describe this beer. I could only do this beer in sips. With the high ABV, it sure sings one hell of a lullaby. I slept like the dead after this beer. This is a brew for special occasions and small quantities. Damn impressive.

Bottle. A- Raisins, booze, bourbon, dark fruits, burnt sugar. A- Mahogany color, clear liquid, off white head. T- Raisins, dark fruits, caramel, bourbon, boozy. P- Full body, average texture, average carbonation, boozy finish. O- This was super boozy and bursting with dark fruits, mostly raisin. I did not detect any vanilla or coconut which I had really hoped for. Also drank it fairly fresh. Im sure some age would really do this beer good.

A damn tasty beer. Aroma was fantastic. Vanilla, bourbon and caramel with slight notes of oak. Pour was a nice medium brown with a tinge of red and a thin off white film for a head. Taste was big and delicious. Not as boozy as it smelled, the bourbon and vanilla were very full and rounded. Coconut and raisin came out as it warmed and, I rarely say this, the small hint of hops I picked up were disappointing. I was hoping they would be gone, but happily they have mellowed. Light carbonation round this great beer out.

Not the best barrel aged barleywine, I barely got any of the barrel flavors in it. The hops dominate the aroma and taste Citrus, grass, and pine are the main constituents in the beers flavor, a tad bit of caramel malt peeks in before the bitter hops come back in the finish

Corked & Caged 750 ml Bottle. Dark coppery amber colored with light beige head. Aroma is dominated by notes of whiskey barrel, dark sugars, caramel malt and pine resin. Taste is brown sugar, resiny hops and toasted coconut upfront along with some whiskey, dark fruits and citrus rind to round things out. Mouthfeel is moderately thick and creamy with soft carbonation and a final dose of toasted oak and hops resin in the finish. Overall, its rich and full-flavored without being too sweet or boozy. Well done.

Mahogany in the glass with a filmy head. Aroma is dried fruits, toffee, and some booziness tingles my nostrils. Full bodied mouthful is rich with burnt sugar, more sweet dried fruit, a light barrel/vanilla presence, and some resinous bitterness. Warming. Like many have said here already, I do prefer regular Bigfoot to this, but its a nice sipper.
