3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Tap at Churchkey for CBC. This one poured an amber color with a touch of brown to it with a tiny off-white head. Aroma was some booze in this, touch of light citrus remains, but it’s mostly sweet malts surrounded by a ton of barrel, vanilla and some toasted coconut and raisin notes. Alcohol burns still a bit, a touch rough around the edges, but enjoyable.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Nice orange ruby pour, light fizzing head. aromas of whiskey, vanilla, figs. Aging has done this well although I think one more year in the bottle and it will be prime. It still has a heavy hop profile that hides a lot of the underlying flavors of raisin, fig and plum. Finish is dry and whiskey.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
750 ml corked and caged bottle. "2013 Expedition" is what it says on the label. Pours cloudy brown with orange highlights and a long-sustaining beige head. Aroma consists of toasted coconut, caramel, wet river rock, candied dark fruit. Taste starts out sweet, turns a little tangy and bitter before a lingering savory bitterness finishes it off. Body is huge, carbonation average for style, mouthfeel oily. The wood does wonders here, making an already exceptional beer exquisite. Awesome.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
750ml bottle. Thanks to my brother in law josh for hooking this up... Pours a deeper reddish amber, smooth and consistent throughout, and topped with a creamy off-white head... Aroma of whiskey with hints of vanilla, dark fruits with an all around sweetness. Caramel toffee throughout. Smooth with a touch of woody spice on the backend... Flavors are more of the same with vanilla, caramel toffee to go alongside the bourbon barrel presence. Surprisingly, there is still a pronounced bitterness on the backend while being sweet through the middle. Just above medium bodied with adequate. Smooth sweet deep malty presence. Enjoyable actually.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Sampled at the Raleigh Rare and Vintage Festival 2013. Clearish brown amber pour with small offwhite head. Distinctly hoppy flavor with a massive amount of american hop bitterness. I was really surprised how much the hops stuck around after 2 years! It was verging on being almost too boozy. Some age should treat this quite nicely, but as it was, I didn’t really care for it.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Sample at the Blarney Wine tasting on 03/16/2013: The beer pours a dark brown color with a medium thick light tan head that diminishes steadily. Rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of bourbon, oak and vanilla. Full-bodied with flavors of caramel malt, oaky bourbon and coconut. Some hops in the background. The finish is sweet with a malt and bourbon aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pouring at the Night of the Barrels at Extreme Beer Fest. Pours a clear browned amber with a thin white head. Warm wood, whiskey, caramel. Big plums, earthy old hops. Lots of plum and prune, chocolate, warm and boozy. Very big, definitely a sipper. Long oxidization and plums with some wood bitterness on the finish.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Appearance: Pours hazy dark red with a thin tan ring.
Aroma: Sweet cherry and plum, bourbon.
Taste: Wood, walnuts, dark chocolate, cereal, warm woody bourbon finish. Subdued hops compared to fresh.
Mouthfeel: Full bodied lively creamy carbonation.
Overall: Worth the hype, amazingly tasty. For those familiar with fresh and aged Bigfoot: this is it’s own beast. The agressive hops are subdued and the malt smooths out with the presence barrel character. I wouldn’t bother aging this, I’d drink this now.

Copper pour with white head and lace. Bourbon, oak, vanilla, abv, and raisins. Same as nose but I don’t get the oak. Smooth creamy carbonation and full bodied. Nice warmth.

4.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pours amber-brown with a large light tan head. Aroma is molasses and creamy choclate-like malts. Aroma is smoooth! Taste is smoooth!! - malts come first, then hop bitterness, then a sweet smooth malty heaven with mild wiskey barrel in the finish. Really, really good!
