COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our Bigfoot Barleywine is a craft beer legend. Each winter, this beast of a beer appears and wreaks havoc on unsuspecting palates with its intense bittersweet flavors. This year—in honor of the 30th Anniversary of this style-bending brew— we’re releasing a very special version of this cult classic: Aged in oak whiskey casks for nearly two years, this barrel-aged Bigfoot is incredibly complex. The assault of resinous hops has mellowed, and the influence of the wood has shifted focus toward the malt—with rich burnt-sugar flavors and notes of vanilla, toasted coconut, and raisins. Grab this elusive beast while you can, because it won’t be around for long.

Corked bottle. Pours murky dark brown with a decent bubbly head that fades pretty quickly. Aromas are whiskey, caramel, vanilla, and toasted wood. Taste is very boozy. The aging took out almost all of the hops. Kinda syrupy now. Mostly just whisky, caramel, and barrel notes. Alcohol is pretty well hidden in the finish though. Thick and sticky mouthfeel. Kinda disappointed here since I love the regular version. This is still solid but I was expecting more.

Pours a rich amber color with a finger of fine khaki fizz. Nose has nice toasted grain, burnt sugar, warm bourbon and some date fruit. Palate follows but has a bit more acrid walnut and dark fruit mingling with the softer caramel and bourbon undertones. Hint of grassy bitterness lingers with some boozy dark fruit in the finish. Nice but not really blown away by this.

Bottle 750ml. [2013] Pours deep amber/reddish with very low beige head. Minimal lacing. Aroma is of alcohol, caramel. Taste is of malt, caramel, alcohol, sugar, bitterness, booze, fusel alcohols. Palate: Full bodied. Overall: Good, boozy. Nice one, but maybe too extreme to be outstanding. Huh.

light brown color whispy off white head not much lace. Mostly oak aromas some good carmels, no real hop pressence. Palate is well coated and lightly creamy. Flvor is full of wood & tannins finishes dry w/ lots of sweet carmels and some grassy hops. Pretty good, but a bit to much woo dand not very airomatic.

75cl bottle @ Shrewsbury Beer Share, June 15, brought back from the US of A by Jeremy. Many thanks. Pours dark amber with off-white head. Taste brings forth a pine needles smoothie with a huge Kentucky bourbon influence. Oaky with sharp alcohol notes. Although I’m not massively into whisky this was still a complex and captivating beer that I doubt I’ll see again.

Bottle poured into glass. Wow! Talk about an assault on the senses. A good bit of hoppy character mixed with the up front boozy-ness of the whiskey definitely makes this an enjoyable sipper. Would like to see how this does with some aging on it.

Pour is murky amber with a big bubbled tan head...smell is piney and smokey...the bitterness seems a little subdued...and just a little...otherwise strikingly similiar to regular bigfoot...sweet, but overly bitter...

Pours a deep copper color with a foamy off white head. Notes of vanilla, whiskey, dark brown sugar, figs, and smoke. Not much of the original bigfoot character remains.
