Big thanks to Harold for sharing this beer! Initially, I got a lot of citrusy hop notes with some pine and cedar in the nose. Oak, vanilla, and caramel were present, too. Hoppy! Poured a nice brown with a faint white head. Taste was white oak, some vanilla, hops, caramel, and a bit boozy. Not bad. I’d like to sit on a bottle for a year and then retry this one.

Very impressed, after a year of barrel-aging (or maybe a little more?!?!) this one still has a ton of hops. Manages to be hoppy, and have a lot of bourbon character at once. Super strong, so it needs to be sippsed, but has a lot of pine, resinous character as well as the boozy, bourbon vanilla notes. A weird mix, but it works well.

on tap at the blind tiger grand opening night. ruby copper color, light tan head. sweet vinuous malty aroma, bourbon, and fruity like prunes and vanilla. flavor is hot bourbon malt, sweet vermouth and fainter vanilla. syrupy, and finish is a bit of alcohol. didn’t taste as boozy to me as others were saying.

On tap @ Brew Kettle during RB Cleveland gathering 3/10/07, served in a snifter: Medium amber w/a thin off white head. Medium bourbon aroma w/ toasted malt and caramel. Alcohol gets stronger as it warms with hints of vanilla and oakey wood when at room temp. Well balanced & smooth flavor; bourbon, toasted malt, oaky wood with a semi dry finish, aftertaste is bourbon and citrusy hops. Dry, full body, warming alcohol, medium low carbonation. Very nice & smooth for a young Bigfoot! Much more drinkable than the regular bottled version when young.

Bottle with beerandblues2. End of a vertical tasting. Pours hazy medium brown with a thin off white head. Smells like alcohol, tobacco, vanilla, and spice. Tastes bitter and sweet, flavors just like the smell. Thick feel, medium body, and low carbonation.

GABF 2006. Much smoother than I was expecting. Not a huge hop profile like the regular Bigfoot. Nonetheless, a great beer. Due to it’s mellow flavor, I feel this was probably an older Bigfoot vintage, but I’m not sure how old. Hope they bottle this stuff so I can try some more. Good stuff.

Draft @ The Bistro’s Barrel Aged Beer Fest. Pours a deep garnet color with a white wisp on top. Sweet and hoppy aroma with an obvious woody and bourbon note. Sweet/ bitter flavor with more bourbon and some vanilla. Dusty finish. Tastes like it may have a slight oxidation but it doesn’t detract in the least from this beer.

Pour is transparent ruby red with lots of a tight tan head. Nose has lots of oak and vanilla, notes of caramel and some cooked brown sugar, light berry sweetness behind. Taste has more malt depth, chocolate, caramel, roasted malt and brown sugar, light berry sweetness and a fair bit of bitterness. Body is full with moderate carbonation and a chewy feel.
