Draught at Mugs Split Thy Skull. Dark amber with thick legs. aroma is lighter than i would expect...honey, pecans, grapefruit, lightly toasted cereal. Flavor is more bourbon sweetness, spice wood, lightly bitter end. Texture is lightly gritty medium bodied surprisingly clean end. Quite nice.

Strong Ale 2012. Mahogany colored pour with a khaki head. Decent amount of oak, some dark fruit, hints of vanilla, and some molasses. A bit of pecan, syrup, toast, and a hint of roast. The flavor is kind of bland and very woody. A bit of vanilla and fruit, but lots of molasses, toasted malt, and a hint of roast. Mild pecan, syrup, and charred wood.

Tap at CK thanks to argo0. Pours clear ruby with weak head formation. Nose is mega rich bourbon, buttery, toasted coconut, spicy orange peel. Really on the mark. Taste is rich and silky, no wood tannins, toasted coconut and buttercream. Mega rich. Could pass for boss bottle of Firestone Walker Abacus/Sucaba. Very good. About as good as ASA’s get.

On tap at Churchkey for the tap takeover. Black as the night itself. A thin beige ring surrounds it all. Popcorn butter and toffee with lots of sweet caramel and saltwater taffe. Chocolate and caramel in the finish. Thick rich palate with low carbonation. Yummy but flawed.

On draft at Lord Hobo’s for EBF weekend. Another one that I had to take multiple sips from friends to gauge. Something seemed off here. Not a lot of woody character or roastyness. Perhaps the bar keep poured the wrong beer, it’s possible.

Enjoyed at the Brick Store. Big black pout with little head. The aroma is very rich with dark malts’ molasses and an odd sweetness that was hard to place. Flavor was pretty rich as well and the additions birch and maple were certainly apparent. It gave it a molasses like flavor but different...perhaps licorice or Annie. Pretty good and full bodied. Not exactally worth 35 bucks though.

All the same qualities described in the regular life and limb with the addition of strong coconut and vanilla overtones. Very smooth and complimentary to the dark syrupy flavors of the original.
