4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Sample at RateBeer Gallery II. Donít hate on the big guys just cause theyíre big! Pours opaque black with a medium tan head that dissipates slowly with good lacing. Aroma is molasses and chocolate, maple, more chocolate. Not getting a lot of coffee or barrel here. Flavor is HUGE chocolate, some coffee, a bit of oaky astringence. Medium sweet and medium bitter with notes of vanilla present. Medium astringence from the time in wood. Medium body, some ABV burn, but pretty well managed for 13%. Nice lingering bitterness into the far finish. Good effort.

4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
Comes out of the tap a rich, warm sable with a thick tan head. Very appetizing. Powerful aroma carries enough to get your attention well before the glass is below your nostrils, getting the saliva glands a-goiní with roast malt, oak, maple syrup, caramel and mocha notes. Flavor is sweet but not cloying, and maple syrup, roast malt, caramel, coffee, oak, chocolate and even subtle spice and hop tones dance across the palate. Thick, syrupy texture is quite fizzy. Drink it slowly.
