Clear dark amber with a thin cap head of a light beige hue. Aroma was enticing to say the last. Nose of red wine tannins and oak with a earthy malty sweetness and a slight sour ale tone. Flavor of the same, with oak-aged red wine flavors atop some earthy sweet maltiness, and a spicy smooth essence I couldn’t put my finger on. Smooth and flavorful finish.

Draft. From notes. Loads of dark fermented fruits. Somewhat funky, decent bit of the wine barrel comes out. Would love a bottle of this to Tay down for a bit.

Aromas of red wine, toffee, dry berries, and vanilla. Hazy brown with orange-gold highlights, head is off-white with good retention. Tastes slightly sweet, with flavors of port wine. Medium-full bodied, good carbonation, and finishes with dry, fruity notes.

This beer is one of the most delicious beers I have ever tasted. Very nice dubbel with a sweet dark fruit taste, filling and complex.

12oz bottle - Quite the stunner in the 12oz bottle. I’m usually on the side of "the bigger the bottle, the better the beer" when compared to the 12oz and the 22oz/750ml bottle, especially when bottle fermented. This had a high wow factor for me. A deep, vinous nose with leather and tobacco with just the lurking of tartness there. The flavors of toasted sugar, minerally yet layers of leather and dark fruits are easily found. Very complex with a depth of flavor that I really enjoyed.

[BCTC 12] Hazt red brown color with a small, off white head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of vanilla, red wine, dark fruits, light cocoa, faint spices and some light alcohol. Taste of light caramel, spices, vanilla, red wine and a bigger body.

On tap at the Blind Tiger, NYC during their Sierra Nevada event. Pours lightly hazy ruby with a fine, creamy head. Great dry fruit character throughout. Medium sweet, definitely some dry wood, vinous aspects, lots of dry berries. Medium to full bodied with fine carbonation. Dry, vinous berry finish, some toasted sugars. Lovely. Great depth and balance.

on tap at coles. Pours amber ruby color capped by a silky tan head. Head has good retention. Nose of cherries and plum. Taste starts sweet with pit fruit dancing on the palate. A light oak, vanilla, and nut come in mid stream. very light bitterness on the finish. What a complex and tasty beer.

750 ml bottle into chalice; bottled on 6/18/2015. Pours crystal clear deep ruby red/brownish color with a 1 finger dense tan head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of raisin, plum, fig, pear, apple, red wine, caramel, brown sugar, toast, brown bread, nuttiness, light chocolate, vanilla, bourbon, oak, pepper, clove, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of fruity/spicy yeast, dark/bready malt, and bourbon/wine barrel notes; with good strength. Taste of big raisin, plum, fig, pear, apple, red wine, caramel, brown sugar, toast, brown bread, nuttiness, light chocolate, vanilla, bourbon, oak, pepper, clove, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Moderate amount of earthy yeast and bourbon/oak spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of raisin, plum, pear, apple, red wine, caramel, brown sugar, brown bread, nuttiness, vanilla, bourbon, oak, and yeast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, dark/bready malt, and wine/bourbon barrel flavors; with an awesome malt/yeast balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready, and slightly slick mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warmth lingering after the finish. Overall this is a fantastic barrel aged dubbel style! All around awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, dark/bready malt, and wine/bourbon barrel flavors; and very smooth and easy to sip on for the ABV. A highly enjoyable offering.
