A - Dark red-brown with a finger of frothy khaki-brown head. Fades normal.
S - Sweet dark caramel malts with raisins, dates, other dark fruits, Brandy, oak, vanilla, Belgian yeast, clove, pepper, spices, and some booze.
T - Sweet dark caramel malts, raisins, dates, other dark fruits, oak, Brandy, vanilla, Belgian yeast, clove, pepper, other spices, candi sugar, and some booze.
M - Full bodied with moderate carbonation. Smooth with a sweet and warming finish.
D - Nicely balanced Quad with great mouthfeel. The barrel adds some nice complexity.

Great initial taste. I?m not a fan of most Sierra Nevada beers because of all the hops. Smooth malty taste.

On draft at the top Gainesville. 9 oz snifter. Pours dark ruby/brown/black. Aroma is big whiskey barrel and dark fruits, dry oak. Sweet dark fruit, blak cherry, grape, vanilla, with some sherry-like notes. Medium heavy mouthfeel with medium carbonation. Good stuff.

A dark copper brown ale with no head. In aroma, sweet candy sugar with roasted notes, licorice, wood extract, fusel alcohol and molasses. in mouth, dark fruits and molasses, loads of alcohol, juniper, licorice, nice. On tap at Farm House, Feb. 10 2012.

2/21/13. On tap at Kickbacks, RBWG Welcome Dinner! Thanks, Steve! Deep brown pour with a small khaki head. Rich wine aroma, lots of red wine, with some sweetness and a touch of roast. Nice rich flavor with a bit of sugar and roast and a tob of red wine. Tasty, but definitely winey. Nice.

Keg at Kickbacks. Pours clear ruby with a fine cream head. Lots of rich, faintly tangy berries in the nose, hints of toffee, cherries. Medium to big sweet flavor with pears, dark berries, light toffee, pineapple. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Lightly warming finish with some sticky sugars, dark berries, nips of vanilla and toffee. Nice.

On tap at Milltown: Pours a soft rich burgundy and brown with a brief light tan head. Wonderful aroma, notes of fig and prune with raisin and a ton of other dark fruits. A touch of alcohol shows through along with wood and some brandy. Dark fruit dominates the flavor, very rich fig and prune with some barrel and alcohol warmth.

Tap at Max’s Taphouse. Pours clear dark brown with a small, fizzy off-white head, short retention with spare. Aroma is vinous grapes, oak, cookie and caramel malt with dates and vanilla. Flavor is malt dominant with light hops and bitterness, vinous notes, vanilla, dates and a sweet finish. Full body and medium carbonation.

Draft at Max’s. hazy ruby maroon color, pretty much flat. Aroma of vanilla, prunes, plums. Taste is tawny port, dark winter fruit, vanilla. Tasty.
