COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The brewery says its new beer, which features five varieties of different hops, imparts hints of grapefruit, with a floral note that recalls orange blossom. At 8.5% alcohol-by-volume, a light malt body and dry finish complement West Coast Double IPAís bold hop profile. ďThis is an IPA thatís West Coast in style, which is fitting since the whole pilgrimage kicks of here in California in just a few weeks, said Ken Grossman, founder.Ē

Bottle-sampled in July 2014 Pours bright orange with a big soapy slightlhy off white head. Nose is sort of strange-quite a big of leafy hops and a touch of green onion. slightly dank, but not in a good way. Flavors are somewhat different than the nose. Lots of big juicy grapefruit, pine, orange peal and big resinous bitterness. Long bitter finish with a touch of alcohol. A decent IIPA but not great. Hoptimum runs circles around this!

gold-light amber color; great, citrusy grapefruit hop aroma; lots of citrusy, grapefruit hops on a fairly light malt base

Floral, spicy, quite bitter, not a lot of pine or grapefruit or tropical but they are there along with a teensy bit of lemon. Isnít this what a midwest IPA is supposed to be like. I donít know. Itís good. Iíd have boosted the malt profile, mostly toasted malt, cracker and a bit of bread crust. Quite drinkable really. Poured a light honey yellow, fairly clear but not entirely. Super drinking tip: the not entirely is where the magic flavor comes from. Tons of lacing accompanies the stickiness of this DIPA.

Bottle from greens. Light yellow color with a big white frothy head. Adds a bit of creaminess. Bitter grapefruit finish. Decent hops although they do seem a little faint. Not sure how old this is at this point. Light citrus aroma. Malt body is nice though with good caramel and a decent body and presence.

So when Superspak, uses the term "offering" does he consider himself a God? Please see his rating of this ale, "24 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 6/20/2014. Pours slightly hazy/cloudy deep gold color with a 2 finger dense and rocky white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with some light streaming carbonation. Aromas of big grapefruit, tangerine, lemon zest, orange peel, apricot, mango, pineapple, floral, grass, pine, light caramel, light toasted bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good balance and complexity of juicy citrus/tropical hops and moderate malt sweetness; with great strength. Taste of big grapefruit, tangerine, lemon zest, orange peel, apricot, mango, pineapple, floral, grass, pine, light caramel, light toasted bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Good amount of pine/grassy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, lemon zest, orange peel, apricot, mango, pineapple, floral, grass, pine, light caramel, light toasted bread, and floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Good amount of pine/grassy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, lemon zest, orange peel, apricot, mango, pineapple, floral, grass, pine, light caramel, bread, and floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Damn nice complexity, robustness, and balance of juicy citrus/tropical hops and moderate malt sweetness; with a great crisp malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a very smooth, crisp, moderately slicky, and slightly creamy mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is well hidden with only a light warming present after the finish. Overall this is an excellent DIPA. All around great complexity and balance of juicy citrus/tropical hops and moderate malt sweetness; and very smooth and crisp to sip on for the ABV. A very enjoyable offering."

24 oz. bottle. 24oz bottle. Pours a mostly clear gold with a moderate-large white head that lasted through the first quarter of the glass and left ample lace. Pleasant aroma of grapefruit and pine with a few notes of orange detected as well. The flavor is malt followed by a somewhat abrasive wash of citrus and pine. Medium bodied.

9/12/2014: Sierra Nevada Beer Camp West Coast Double IPA... Bright, shiny gold color with a frothy ivory head. Honey maltiness with a sugary pine and citrus aroma with a suggestion of pineapple. Pine, floral, slightly herbal and earthy hoppiness with an underpinning of light toffee malt. The bitterness is moderate overall and fits really well with the style. Medium body with a soft, effervescent palatte. Overall, itís a bit underwhelming and Iíd rather just drink the Goose Island Rampler IPA that has nearly as much flavor with a bit less alcohol and at a better price point.

24oz bottle. Aroma is fresh grapefruit and hop bitterness. Appearance is a hazy dark golden color with a white foamy head. Taste is all hops from the start of a zesty lemongrass flavor that rolls into the hop bitter that is very fresh tasting. Palate is bitter from the hops. Overall, a good IPA. No malt, but they did a great job with all the hop flavors blending well. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
