COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The brewery says its new beer, which features five varieties of different hops, imparts hints of grapefruit, with a floral note that recalls orange blossom. At 8.5% alcohol-by-volume, a light malt body and dry finish complement West Coast Double IPAís bold hop profile. ďThis is an IPA thatís West Coast in style, which is fitting since the whole pilgrimage kicks of here in California in just a few weeks, said Ken Grossman, founder.Ē

I didnít know what to expect with this beer since it seemed like a "Welcome to Beer Camp" beer and not part of the Beer Camp 12 pack. Wow, what an excellent DIPA this is! The first hit of aroma is that classic scent of a strong, bitter Sierra Nevada beer (Hoptimum, Celebration). Grassy, and slightly floral at the same time with a big wiff of caramel malt. Those follow right into the taste with a definite nod to Hoptimum but with a really catty, tongue piercing bitterness that seems to go even beyond that. It feels like itís really high ABV (I would have guessed 10%), but I think itís the hops giving it the extra bite. The sweet, bready caramel malt kicks in to mellow this somewhat and add balance, but the bitterness keeps boring through your tongue. Thereís a bit of vanilla and pineapple in there too. Finishes with a delicious, long-lasting bitterness and sweetness that lasts for a long time. Damn I wish Iíd bought a few more of these. This is my 700th rating and itís fitting that itís Sierra and something special like Beer Camp which was awesome! Cheers to Ken Grossman and Sierra Nevada for all theyíve done and continue to do for craft beer!

Appearance: very hazy golden color, pours with a big beige head, nice density on the head when it settles Aroma : strong citrus, lemon, alcohol, Taste: orange, some sweetness initially, alcohol, moderate bitterness on the finish Palate: soft carbonation, bitter aftertaste, medium mouthfeel, Overall: very strong orange aromas and flavors in this one, a bit too high abv that can be tasted from time to time, good beer but probably wouldnít buy again

Bottle-sampled in July 2014 Pours bright orange with a big soapy slightlhy off white head. Nose is sort of strange-quite a big of leafy hops and a touch of green onion. slightly dank, but not in a good way. Flavors are somewhat different than the nose. Lots of big juicy grapefruit, pine, orange peal and big resinous bitterness. Long bitter finish with a touch of alcohol. A decent IIPA but not great. Hoptimum runs circles around this!

gold-light amber color; great, citrusy grapefruit hop aroma; lots of citrusy, grapefruit hops on a fairly light malt base

Floral, spicy, quite bitter, not a lot of pine or grapefruit or tropical but they are there along with a teensy bit of lemon. Isnít this what a midwest IPA is supposed to be like. I donít know. Itís good. Iíd have boosted the malt profile, mostly toasted malt, cracker and a bit of bread crust. Quite drinkable really. Poured a light honey yellow, fairly clear but not entirely. Super drinking tip: the not entirely is where the magic flavor comes from. Tons of lacing accompanies the stickiness of this DIPA.

Bottle from greens. Light yellow color with a big white frothy head. Adds a bit of creaminess. Bitter grapefruit finish. Decent hops although they do seem a little faint. Not sure how old this is at this point. Light citrus aroma. Malt body is nice though with good caramel and a decent body and presence.

So when Superspak, uses the term "offering" does he consider himself a God? Please see his rating of this ale, "24 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 6/20/2014. Pours slightly hazy/cloudy deep gold color with a 2 finger dense and rocky white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with some light streaming carbonation. Aromas of big grapefruit, tangerine, lemon zest, orange peel, apricot, mango, pineapple, floral, grass, pine, light caramel, light toasted bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good balance and complexity of juicy citrus/tropical hops and moderate malt sweetness; with great strength. Taste of big grapefruit, tangerine, lemon zest, orange peel, apricot, mango, pineapple, floral, grass, pine, light caramel, light toasted bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Good amount of pine/grassy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, lemon zest, orange peel, apricot, mango, pineapple, floral, grass, pine, light caramel, light toasted bread, and floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Good amount of pine/grassy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, lemon zest, orange peel, apricot, mango, pineapple, floral, grass, pine, light caramel, bread, and floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Damn nice complexity, robustness, and balance of juicy citrus/tropical hops and moderate malt sweetness; with a great crisp malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a very smooth, crisp, moderately slicky, and slightly creamy mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is well hidden with only a light warming present after the finish. Overall this is an excellent DIPA. All around great complexity and balance of juicy citrus/tropical hops and moderate malt sweetness; and very smooth and crisp to sip on for the ABV. A very enjoyable offering."
