4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Light, crisp and infinitely drinkable helles lager. There is a subtle complexity between the malt and hops, with neither being overshadowed.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Tap @ The Noble Fir, Seattle... Poured clear golden yellow with a fizzy, lacy, white head. Easy drinking, a great palate cleanser beer. for sure. Foamy mouthfeel, highly carbonated. Bready malts and cracker-like grains, some floral hops, a mild bitterness, and light fruit along with yeast. But mostly the yeast was quite clean. Overall this beer was unobtrusive on the palate.

Draught at City Beer. Pale golden color with a fine head. Bready malt nose, a touch of hop. Nice malt character in the flavor, crackery and light, though not near enough hop flavor or bitterness. Smooth, soft body. Decent.

3.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Sierra Nevada night at The Surly Goat. And if it weren’t for Brux this would be the winner of the night. Pours a beautiful clear light yellow. Some cereal grain notes play off some fruitiness to make a silky smooth beer.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Tap at FW fest(time to unretire). Gold pour, loads of grains and not a whole lot more in the nose and flavor of this. Not bad, but just not much punch to it at all. Bland a bit.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Tap at CK. Clear bright golden pour. Weak head formation. Corn and gritty adjunct nose with sugar cube. Taste is rich, buttery, raw, malty, big creamed corn DMS. Oily palate. Lots of off flavors that that be intentional since they are at levels that mimic thick oatmeal and butterscotch. Reminds me of prohibition syle American lagers. Certainly not a flawless and quenching Helles. More of American old style prohibition lager. Small sugar and maraschino cherry comes through. After decanting, a lot of the off flavors are less agressive. Some sharper lemon pound cake and buttercream frosting. Very good overall, enjoyable, rich. But there are clear diacetyl and DMS off flavors rather intentional or unintentional.
