Beer Camp #36 September 2010 ABV 9.7 IBU 80

Brewed with the musical winners of our Beer Camp contest, Hopsichord hits all the right notes. This reddish-amber IPA works its way up the scale of hop flavors and aromas, featuring tones of tropical fruit, light pine and citrus zest. This symphony of hops is balanced by a robust malt body that blends the bright hoppy highlights with a long, smooth, and bittersweet finish.

Served on draft at Beer Run in Charlottesville, VA. Pours a clear vibrant auburn color with a medium sized tan head. Good head retention and lacing. Aroma of hops, and more hops. Floral, peppery, citrus, berries. Some faint toffee notes if you look for them. The taste is bitter, floral hops with a peppery finish. Hop forward with some faint toffee notes. Medium bodied. Could use more balance. Good though.

On tap at Rattle n Hum during their Sierra Nevada event. Pours a just clear brown amber with a thin white head. Caramel and malt on the nose. Sweet, big and earthy with lots of citrus. Hops turn to caramel, smooth and sticky. Lots of long earthy notes on the finish.

Clear copper pour with a small, off-white head that lasts and leaves good lacing. Aromas are of mango and papaya, quite dry, zesty, pine needles, very vibrant, lightly bready, some alcohol and a touch of caramel. Flavors are a little bit sweet and candy like, tropical fruit, guava and strawberry. Medium bubbles, light bitterness but a lot of hop flavor. Dry and very tasty.

Clear amber color/ ivory foam. Big spicy, tropical fruit, pine, floral pungent hoppy aromas. medium bodied with average co2. Tropical fruit, dank spicy, floral, pine flavors meshing nicely with a caramel, pale malt base--very good.

24 ounce bottle. It pours a really nice golden copper color with a lasting orange head. The aroma is very peachy with some sweet candy coated hops and tropical fruit. The flavor is a bit harsh with some potent melon rind and mild solvent bitterness. Theres some cotton candy sweetness finishing with a palate bruising finish. One of the roughest Sierra Nevada beers I’ve ever had.
