COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This imperial red ale takes the intense hop profile found in traditional double ipa and turns up the malt. It has big aromatic hop notes of grapefruit, peach, and melon--balanced by a smooth and surprisingly robust malt body.

Deep red-brown with slightly off-white head and tons of lacing. Sticky grapefruit and pine with aromatic toasted malt and light caramel. Flavor dank grapefruit, tropical melon, pine, and sticky caramel and toasted malt in the finish. Well-played, flavorful ale.

Bottled. Poured clear light-medium amber with a well-retained, creamy beige head.. looked great in the glass. The aroma picked up spicy grapefruit and pine resin over soft biscuit and nutty notes.. fresh earthy yeast made a presence and was complementary.. very nice. The flavor found darker fruit as well as chewy bread and biscuity notes at the core.. fresh pine, peppery notes, and grapefruit bitterness around.. finished warm with mostly pine bitterness over bread and fruity malts. Medium-bodied with a creamy feel through the palate.. rolling carbonation.. smooth, tasty, and well-balanced.

Pours a very sharp and clean copper ruby red with two fingers of sticky yellowish tan head. Nose is piney with some grain husk coming through, smells like a little roasted barley. Lots of grapefruit rind (no melon or peach.....) and a light floral quality. Slightly resinous. Kind of sharp in the mouth, definitely an aggressive bitterness. Peanut hull (to me) character, grain husk thing going on. Medium body, little bit of warmth. A bit scattered but nice enough.

Pours a very clear but deep red-amber with a small creamy head. Mild malt aroma. Slight roasted caramel flavor, but also some good hops in there. Medium bodied. A decent effort, and a good red ale.

12 oz bottle, 2012 Beer Camp Variety Pack, from Whole Foods Milwaukee. Pours a deep, reddish-brown color with a white head and some lacing. Aroma is hops, citrus, grapefruit. medium on the palate with soft, creamy carbonation. Flavor is bitter, hoppy, grapefruit, caramel malt, a little roasty, with a light bitter finish. Very interesting.

Pours a deep rusty ruby red with a two finger off white head that slides away fairly quickly. Aromas are honeyed malts, grapefruit and a touch of earthy spice. On the palate its a malt bomb with touches of fruity hops and rustic spices. Not a big red ale fan but a decent example for sure.

Bottle from mix pack. This was much more malt forward than expected. The roast really takes over the body and flavor. Hops are much lighter than expected. Still a good solid beer in a style I don’t always love.

Good beer. Aroma is light maltiness. Appearance is big head that lingers and clear dark red color. Taste is hoppy and sweet roasted malts with a medium bitter finish.
