Our aggressive Imperial Red Ale is a massive mix of smooth malts and West Coast hops that have no patience for the lupulin leery. This crimson beer starts with caramel-like malt flavor that canít suppress the assertive, citrusy hop finale.

pour is hazy brown, creamy khaki colored head. smell is fresh malt and some honey and citrusy hops. Taste is very fresh and sweet . mouthfeel is nice lively medium high body. finish is lasting bitter hop, almost metalic. overall tho, a very good replacement for traditional lunch. Warms the belly but the alcohol isnít really present in the taste, just be careful! I was going to try to rate all three of the beer camp beers in one sitting, but i have a feeling if i do iíll turn into a giant piece of dook. Itís almost Party Bus time! wooooo

12oz bottle 9/27/13 (Binnyís Downers Grove Mix A Six)-40į in snifter-Pours a murky red with a small tan head. Aroma of malt, sweetness, caramel, and toffee. Taste of hops, malt, caramel, and alcohol. This medium bodied brew is not bad but a bit hot.

Looks like a brown ale. Full bodied. Hop overload in both aroma and flavour. I really donít see the point in doing an Imperial Red. However with that said it does taste good. Right at the end there is a slight chocolate finish. Not too bitter. No real unique notes.

12oz bottle pours with a clear ruby red amber sort of colored body that supports a tan head of foam. The modest aroma has some roasted malts, malt sweetness, some vague hops and sweet dark fruity esters. The taste delivers roasted malts, malt sweetness, some pine hops, grassy resiny hops and a lime like citrus bitter hoppiness. Behind those notes murmurs sweet cherry to prune dark fruity esters. Not bad.

Hazy, reddish-brown pour with a light tan head. The aroma has grapefruit along with faint caramel. It has a medium body with smooth texture and lively carbonation. The taste is bitter with a long finish and some noticeable alcohol.

12 oz bottle from Evergreen Discount Liquors. Deep reddish-brown, clear, tan head and sticky lacing. Aroma is caramel malts, pine, citrus fruits and resinous hops. Similar flavor, nicely balanced with medium bitterness and sweetness. Medium to full body with a hoppy, slightly dry finish.

12 ounce bottle from the recent Beer Camp 12-pack ($19.99 for 12-pack). Pours a brown-red (ice tea) color with a finger and a half of beige-ish foam leaving some lacing. AROMA of floral and herbal earthy hops with some citrus with an almost equal amount of nutty brown malts. FLAVOR has an initial strong citric hoppiness along with some pine but soon moves toward nutty caramel malts. An almost chocolate-like sweet flavor in the finish along with some bitter hops. Well-concealed alcohol. Not sure why Sierra Nevada ran an "imperial red" in two consecutive beer camp packs, but I think I prefer the 2012 version more than this one. The hop profile in the 2012 version was more interesting, while this one seems to try to make a 50:50 split between hops and malt. (137, 814)

Bottle. Poured a clear ruby color with an average frothy off-white head that was mostly lasting and had good lacing. Good malt and west coast citrus hop aroma. Medium body with a slick texture and soft carbonation. Moderate to heavy bittersweet flavor with a medium to heavy bittersweet finish of moderate to long duration. Solid brew.
