3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle from the Summer Beer Camp pack, from Antioch Fine Wine. Pours a brownish red color with light orange head that sticks around nicely, and leaves some streaks of lace. Aroma has pine, citrus, stone fruits and some caramel - dominated by the pine; rest are subtle. Taste is of sweet simple sugar, spicy pine, bitter orange/grapefruit and caramel. Some alcohol present. A lot of body but a bit oversweet. Medium bodied. Slightly syrupy. Finishes quite bitter for as sweet as it was in the presentation. A solid american strong - too sweet to be stellar.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
On tap @ Tap25 - I wonder if raters are confusing this with Flipside, the new SN red this fall in 6 packs found everywhere. Dark red, clear, with a head that sticks around. Hops and citrus dominate aroma, taste starts like a typical Sierra Nevada, then gets a little sweeter, and then finishes with a bitter, hoppy, crispy bite. No alcohol warming, great for a 8.5%. From what I remember, this version is a little hoppier and a little better than last years. Who doesnít love Beer Camp? Had this side by side with a Sculpin and preferred this. Recommended.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours ruby red from draft into snifter. Strong citrus almost tangy hops in the nose. Taste starts off as smooth light toffee, citrus, and hard candy. Hops kick into the back for a nice crispness. Really enjoyed this one.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Pours ruby red with a small foamy head that never completely fades away. Aroma is funky but good. Lots of wet grassy mustiness but theres some great citrus and pine hops too mixing with the heavy, sweet caramel malt base. Taste is moderately sweet with a moderate bitterness too. Smooth sweet caramel malt mixed with some aggresive citrus, pine, and grassy hops. Finish is way too dry and a little soapy. Medium to thick body, creamy and oily mouthfeel. I really like this except for the ultra dry and soapy finish.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
12 oz bottle pours a reddish amber color with a thick off white head that leaves great lacing. Smells of caramel, dark fruit, citrus, and pine. Tastes of all the same things in the smell. Mouthfeel is slick and oily with good carbonation and a semi dry finish. Not as good as last years version but still a pretty awesome Imperial red. A little on the hoppy end but still well balanced. This is the last beer I tried in this years pack. Canít wait to see what next years pack holds.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
12oz. bottle. Intense aroma of malt toast and piney hop, fruity and fresh with notes of resin, earthiness, dark brown sugar and hop florals. Medium-dark red-amber color with a lasting, fine, uneven, off-white head and nice lacing. Flavor profile is very nicely balanced between the darkly sweet, toasty, amber malts and bitter, piney hop, some spruce and faint berry in the background, and finishing with a burst of green, leafy, earthy hop and unmistakable ale yeast fruitiness. Smooth, creamy, drying and lightly resinous mouthfeel, body is medium-full. Very slight warmth appearing late. SN literally puts on a clinic on how to brew an Imperial Red here.
