COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our aggressive Imperial Red Ale is a massive mix of smooth malts and West Coast hops that have no patience for the lupulin leery. This crimson beer starts with caramel-like malt flavor that can’t suppress the assertive, citrusy hop finale.

Poured into snifter from Camp Box bottle. It's a sexy ginger with curves. I'm enjoying the hell out of this. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

UPDATED: DEC 12, 2014 [6102-20131214] Tap. Toasted wet grains aroma. Slightly hazy, red brown body with a long-lasting creamy tan head. Toasted grains continues in the flavour. Medium-full body. Interesting. (6/4/7/4/14) 3.5

Bottle, Ship in a Bottle, West Kirby. Copper pour with a reserved tan head. Sweet malt, citrus and resin in the nose. Initially sweet taste that succumbed to a healthy dollop of citrusy hop. Satisfyingly pleasant to drink. This Beer Camp Series is very good indeed.

Bottle shared at Chriso’s mid-week lasting 03/07/14. Bottle from cotteridge wines. Caramel/ red coloured pour with a lasting loose off white head. Aroma is leather, smoked pine, resin tobacco. Flavour is nice resin, pine needles with a big clean bitterness. Some fruity tangerine and toasted bread malt. Palate is full, sticky resin. Lingering clean piney bitterness. This bottle held up well.

Bottle. Red colored pour, tan head. Smell is huge on hops and some malts. Taste is smooth, somewhat refreshing. Kind of reminds me of Arrogant bastard. Good beer

"Nicely balances caramel and nutty aroma with blasts of fresh citrus. Flavor is tame - not an in your face hoppy red, but the hop flavor, light spice and aromatics are definitely there. Another solid addition to the beer camp line."

It pours a dark copper, deep red color and forms a crazy thick, frothy medium brown colored head. The lacing on the glass is mountainous. Mountainous. The aroma is strong of burnt caramel and alcohol, with a touch of what seems like either a roasted malt bitterness or a sincere dosage of resinous hop acidity. Even notes of alcohol-infused, crystallized pit fruits. And hops. The flavor has a bite to it, but mostly in the finish. Up front it screams mostly of burnt caramel and hop bitterness, while mid-palate it tastes like a strongly-flavored double IPA. But then the sharp burnt caramel comes right back. While the body is perfect for a double IPA, the presence of the very much burnt caramel adds an almost uncomfortable bite to an already bitter hop flavor. It finishes with more burnt caramel and hop bitterness. It’s sharp, nearly harsh, and right to the point. Nothing keeps this beer cozies up to your taste buds. It’s all business. Lord business. It really tastes like there’s much more alcohol in this than there really is, especially in the finish, and that sharp alcohol presence adds to the harshness. Some of the pit fruits emerge as well, making this taste very much like a fermented fruitcake infused with rum. That said, sounds pretty good, eh?

Ember-brown color, with a big, froth head. Contains lots of sweet malts, along with a very inviting, fruity hoppiness, which is quite straight forward and intense on the nose. Begins with bready, toasty malts, which turn sweeter, into a dark fruity direction with hints of syrup. Then the slick hop fruitiness gets mingled up with earthy malts, creating an enjoyable complexity. Hops then turn dryer with spicy, stingy hints, enhanced by a slightly metallic, lively carbonation. Finish is also centered on the hops, with stone-fruits and lime, a pleasant dryness, while warming malts are still being recognizable. Malts accompany the hops in an outstanding, well balanced way, which in the end, lets the hops stand out even more. Again, Sierra Nevada sticks out for me, as they are brewing blueprints of particular beer-styles, very clean and thoughtful.

Bottle at Chriso going Dutch tasting, 03/07/14. Dark amber with reddish hues and a good sized light beige covering. Nose is bitter citric peel, caramel malt, light spice, nutty tones, blood orange. Taste comprises red grapefruit, bitter hops, pine, caramel, candied fruit peel. Medium + body, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Ok stuff.
